In the last couple days I have had two different websites wanting me to confirm my DOB - but I have to use a calendar that starts with the current date and doesn’t allow me to enter the date on my own or flip through by year. I am NOT going back through more than 800 months, people! I bailed on both. I’m going to call the doctors to complain about their ridiculous portals.
Tread lightly. Tread lightly. Tread lightly.
I’m tired of hearing how “fortunate” you are. ![]()
A project (precast concrete for landscaping on top of an existing parking garage in Worcester, MA) I worked on for a year had horrible construction documents. So bad that my client decided to walk away from “Phase II” because we didn’t get answers to my many, many questions. Well, it turns out the employee we informed never told HIS superiors we were quitting, and he has left the company! Almost two months went by between the time he was told and his last day of work. What a gem of a guy! So now his manager is freaking out. I expect to get a lot of frantic questions about my questions, and I’ll have to dig back into this mess yet again. Sigh. That’s the reason for my last post. I’m so thankful my client pays me hourly and they never question my invoices.
Neighbor down the street:
I’m not mad at your dog for running into the street and eventually getting rough with my dog. I’m Mad at you, the owner! Your dog is off a leash in an unfenced yard. You are barely sauntering over to us as I try to stand still with my dog so yours doesn’t run farther away. And no, my dog does not want you to pet him after he’s just been attacked!
(My dog is fine)
Dear Neighbor -
Your yard is a disaster, but I’ve never complained. It’s not unkept, it’s just whacky - First their entire front yard (roughly 200 ft between house and curb) was solid white rocks. Over time they’ve moved to rocks they’ve painted with painted lines between them and stations (of all kinds of junk) that make it look like something between a cemetery and European gardens maybe? There is some grass between these stations. They planted fast growing now tall trees all the way around their lot at some point years ago, and put up a fence all along their front yard (only fence like that in the neighborhood). Then they had to take out the front trees bc of a septic issue (had to get big equipment in), and they took out a bunch more. Now (my complaint) - they have cut all of the lower branches of all of the trees between our houses so we have to see all the crap. It’s truly an eyesore. I won’t complain to them, but thanks for listening here :).
As far as I can see, the extent of what you do for your mother is check up on her.
Why do you do that? Because you bought a dog, even though you work full time, have a lady friend and go out of town many weekends. Your mom watches the dog you bought because you were lonely. Your mom watches and loves the dog. She’s 90 and can’t really walk the dog much but you walk this dog in the mornings and night when you happen to be home. The dog is dropped off before 8am and picked up 12-13 hours later. The dog does sleep at your house when you are there.
Now you tell your brother that it feels like a burden to check up on your mom? Consider me confused?
And now you want to move in with your lady friend, who has a cat that doesn’t get along with the dog? I’m glad this is your problem to deal with.
My head is about to explode that you haven’t yet issued a tribute to recognize this incredibly important benefactor and former board member. I’m sure you will, but right now it makes you look unappreciative.
Nobody’s missed your coin ‘collection’ since you died. Your kids didn’t want it. It sat in the back of your closet for years. And at the end of the day, it really wasn’t worth anything. Same for the random small pile of stamps we found. Those weren’t worth anything either. We got rid of all of it. Didn’t give it away. Didn’t spend useless time hunting for a coin & stamp dealer to give it away to. Just chucked it in the trash. I don’t feel guilty and I’m not sorry about it.
You, your wife, your D & your five year old GD are not going to eat a dozen ears of corn. I hope you plan on eating most of it!
I stand somewhat corrected since you posted something on the institutional website last night in tribute; still nothing to the internal constituency though. Frequently, I don’t understand how the collective heads work.
I am soooooo procrastinating right now.
Two months ago I found a tick on my scalp two days after coming back from my cottage. I suspected it fell on me while I was cleaning the cottage off with a broom. I’ve been wearing a big sun hat on my head when doing that ever since. Today, while doing my tick check when I came in, guess what I found on the outside of my hat? A big tick. I’m glad I wore it, because it would have been very difficult to find had the tick landed in my thick, wavy hair. Yuck!!!
You said it so convincingly that you made me wonder if I had been wrong all along. But no, you were wrong; you even mentioned the specific document, and it flat out said the opposite of what you said. If you were a more thoughtful individual or a more diligent worker, I might not feel like being petty, but really: reading is fundamental.
Time for you to consult a neurologist, DH, and I’m relieved you agree.
It’s hard, because I’m so worried but I can’t share with you like I would about anything else in the world.
I need to be working more, to make up your lost income, but I can’t get my head in the game.
MTA: And you know what pisses me off? When I told the Executive Director and the past President that I can’t take over as Chair for a Committee due to my husband’s memory issues, neither of you expressed concern by email or in person, at our meeting today. Really??
The plane is either at the gate or in the air. Can’t be simultaneously in both spots! Got Schrödinger’s planes, Alaska? ![]()
You know that if there’s a promise that you will have more income, you don’t have to go out and spend it before it’s actually there?
Open the damn windows!!!
You’re exactly the reason why we stopping going to the Catholic Church. Telling me - whose kids went to public high school and whose son is a public school principal - that you would hope that the Catholic high schools would “weed out” the public kid riff-raff - is so one minded that I can’t get what you said off my mind. And you are a retired teacher!
Funny how you ended the conversation when I said, “well, all kids deserve the opportunity to learn”. ![]()
