Alaska, your offer of $25 a person to switch to a different flight is laughable. How about a free RT ticket to Hawaii? I’ll seriously consider that.

Why yes we do let our kids take advantage of us, and do things for them that maybe we shouldn’t.

I said the word “yassified” joking about her school pictures and my D25 told me to never say that again.

It’s a shame that it takes a call to corporate headquarters to get the local dealership to stop lying and do what they are supposed to do.

I wish I could build you a sound proof box that you would have to take your phone calls in. Your voice is so loud in the house and all the politics talk makes me SOOO anxious! Please stop.

One of my group in HS passed away. His very brief obituary was in today’s New York Times. I don’t think I’ve seen him since high school, but I’m so so sad about his death.

He had frontotemporal dementia for the last ten years.

I’m convinced that when people say “I’m just setting boundaries” that over half the time it just means “I’m being selfish and if I call it “setting boundaries” you can’t call me out on it”
I’ve grown to hate that phrase.

You are too dense and ignorant to see the hypocrisy of your positions. You don’t get to have it both ways.

By the look of some of the prices being asked on FB Marketplace for used items, there are clearly many people looking to try and make ends meet this holiday season. Like new prices for not new - at all - items. :frowning:

It’s nice if somebody texts when they are running late. (Today’s example - hairdresser who comes to my house). But it drives me nuts to read, “I will be there shortly”. Twenty minutes later I’m thinking it would have been considerate to give a guesstimate.

Update - tick, tock, 40 min

Why do people try to get those who give them the least, the most?

Why are you trying to gain that grandchild’s attention when the other grandchildren are there for you?

Later today we are flying from San Jose Costa Rica to San Antonio Texas. At the same time, our S will be flying from San Jose California to New Orleans. During our flights we have planned to play a couple games of chess since we will both be online. He will demolish me, but that’s not the point.

Isn’t technology grand!?

I’m really happy my husband gets to do fun things like travel to China for 2 weeks, where he is treated to fancy meals and visits to interesting sites.

I am, however, irrationally angry that he is coming home sick which means I have to continue to “solo parent” until he recovers. :confounded:

Thank you Apple Store for making my phone upgrade a better than miserable experience. I didn’t have to wait long at all, and there was someone to help through every step, including watch syncing.

I can’t imagine doing this for months on end. I’m not seeing how this ends or when

In the past couple weeks, I have experienced abysmal online customer service from two different retailers. One has given me the runaround for several weeks, and I would pledge never to buy from them if they weren’t the only place that carries a particular product I need. The other is happy to keep sending me emails trying to get me to complete the checkout process, but they haven’t responded to my request for the discount code I need before I checkout. Argh!!!

You took it upon yourself to invite people to my home without asking first. I really don’t want to entertain them. I’m totally bah humbug about Christmas and just don’t want to. But I’ll have to rally and scramble…I work better under pressure…and see it through.

Glass half empty: if we were all going to get covid, couldn’t we all get it at the same time? Not one person/four days? At this rate, we’re getting close to still having symptoms when we engage with my elderly parents.

Glass half full: at least we all started this now. Christmas is still eleven days away. Here’s hoping and praying (and isolating so that) we won’t infect my elderly parents.

Working on finalizing our health insurance enrollments for next year today.

It is completely unhinged that both our health and our financial security is based on a system which requires a crystal ball and a roll of the dice.

ETA: by “our” I mean the collective US. Thankfully, neither DH or I have any medical conditions and our finances are secure. But no matter what I pick, by the end of the year, we will waste thousands in being over insured or underinsured.
