Spoke to a friend yesterday who has 3 nephews and a niece-in-law currently fighting in Israel. One nephew was hit by shrapnel over the weekend and suffered facial wounds. Sometimes when you see things on the news you don’t realize what is happening until you are faced with some direct connection to it. So sad for this family.

I swear, my H is going to get scammed someday. I almost want to tell him to just stop handing his Medicare stuff. I told him NOT to contact the Part D company on his telephone. Now they are being a huge pain in the rear & hounding him about switching to their Advantage plan.

Finally, it’s Dec 7 - a day that will live in infamy only because it is the last day to sign up for medicare and hopefully will be the end of the TV commercials, the phone calls, the post cards, the text notices. I hope I can live in peace until at least next July when it will all start all over again! This year I got little relief as my birthday is in July so I got bombarded all spring to sign up for medicare and then has about a 2 week break before it all started again. I’m so sick of it!

Dang dang dang, how could I be so stupid? I got a phone call from someone with a foreign accent who asked, “Is this Maine? MaineLonghorn?” and I said, “Yeah.” Click. I knew immediately I had made a big mistake - they can use that “yeah” as acknowledgement to sign up for credit cards or make purchases. I immediately froze my credit report at all three credit bureaus. I hope that’s good enough. Beware! I try to be so, so careful and then I fell for this.

Earlier this week, DH met up with his best friend from elementary school. Hasn’t seen his buddy in 13 yr. He had dinner w/the guy and his wife.
After 2 hr, the wife got up and kicked DH out.
Oh and despite her not having seen my kids in 13 yr, she declared to DH that our kids are sneaking alcohol and drugs. Why? Because the youngest of her 3 kids developed drug problems in middle school, resulting in them having to move their kid to a different school and the mom is still mad over having to leave her “amazing” kitchen at that house when they moved.
This, therefore, means that OUR kids ARE doing drugs. Right now. 
She is and always has been mean, rude, snobby, and passive aggressive. The opposite of all of my values. We’ve always been polite and pleasant with her out of respect for DH’s friend.
Life is too short though. She’s now going on an information diet from my social media. I don’t wish her ill will but I’m not going to waste anymore of my time with bitter people like her.

Be careful with your morning social media interactions! Even a “like” can and will be misconstrued as evidence that you are 1. awake and 2. available to talk.

I have an awesome client, a precast concrete fabricator. It’s THEIR clients who drive me nuts. I finished final production drawings for all the precast concrete pieces on a large library, and the mason writes back, “I should have reviewed this before…” Yes, like during the APPROVAL process!!! Every single piece on the project will be a different length now. Unbelievable. Thank God I don’t give lump sum prices on projects but charge hourly, so I will be paid for my time. But I feel bad for my client, who will probably have to eat the cost. I’ve said it before, but I really don’t see how buildings ever get built these days. The incompetence and poor construction document quality are so shocking.

OMG what a dumb idea! Shoot up half a million barred owls in the hopes that would help the spotted owl retake the habitat. Government officials, seriously, do you believe a Joe Schmoe with a rifle will be able to distinguish the two species? In the dark, in the forest, many yards away?! Are you out of your minds? Plus, it will be a gift to mice, voles, gophers, and other pests! Yikes!!!

I’m just plain sick & tired of the push by some groups to return women to the “good old days“ when we knew our place. I can’t believe that there is a group dedicated to raising girls to be “pure.” I don’t see that particular word (or anything similar) for the group they have for boys. A bunch of steps forward during my lifetime, but we’re sliding back.

Moms and Dads of students (both female & male) who are thinking “college in Texas sounds cool” - open the newspaper and open your eyes. Nothing good for a young, healthy person there.
