I think it’s selfish of kids to decide not to apply for financial aid “because it will reduce my chances of acceptance.” Then add some safeties to your list. It’s not your money, it’s your family’s.
Now, if parents are in agreement with this strategy, then why were they planning on applying for financial aid in the first place if somehow, it all of a sudden becomes affordable?
Maybe I’m wrong here, but I feel like there is some “system gaming” going on at times. Financial aid should be for those who truly need it.
To my coworker… Just… go… home. I know it seems that you have a cough more often than not, but this afternoon you have constantly coughed for 2.5 hours… I’m not sure how you can keep going at this rate. You hardly have time to catch a breath before the next wave. No, I don’t think it’s a reaction to some vaccine you had last week.
JUST GO HOME!!! It’s making my lungs hurt just listening to it!
OMG…I’m like a deer in headlights. You.Just.Can’t.Let.Anything.Go. Like a pitbull with a locked jaw. Is there a prize for getting in the last word? There must be…or there is something really, really wrong.
My poor daughter. Two co-workers have died in the last 6 months (and another is on a long term medical leave). I know it is part of being an adult out in the working world, but it is still difficult for her. One of the co-workers was somebody she worked closely with (meeting every month, etc.)
My extended family is connected to a 13 year old girl who went missing on Saturday. She was found an hour ago, thank goodness. Hats off to local and state law enforcement & the FBI, who were able to get a friend to talk, find the Snapchat account she had that was well hidden (the girl did not have her own phone or computer), and get access to information that led them to the 21 year old man (who lives 2 hours away) that she took off with. It could have been a much worse ending.
Maybe the reason nobody volunteers is that you constantly step in and say you are doing that, too. I am over trying so hard to find a way to contribute when all you can say is a variation of “No, I want to do it myself”.
I know this started as necessity. But now you are part of the problem, and often in the way. Step away friend, step away.
Saw evidence yesterday evening while getting the mail that Gary the Gopher has started to move in next door to Nosy Neighbor’s front yard. It only took a year and a half, but THANK YOU, GARY!
As I watch the blizzard out the work window I am grateful for the men and women out there plowing our streets and highways, usually with no acknowledgement but complaints, making things easier for the rest of us. Also those keeping the utilities running and the EMS, Firefighters and LEOs, the hospital folks and many more assisting others as well. My thanks to you.
Does noone in this organization know how to use a spreadsheet? Projecting our expenses is not that difficult! And can we check the egos and the turf wars at the door?!?
And the email complaining that “you’re being mean to my husband” just leaves me speechless. All I did was send an email describing a potential rental opportunity into his lap! He’s the chair of the rental committee! Your H can act like an adult and stop impugning the character of others, and stop turning down organizations who want to pay us $$$ which we so desperately need.
I do NOT want to do this all by myself, but my trust that people are giving me accurate, unbiased info is being sorely tested.
Apparently I’m old now, and recently retired (not by choice, but edged out by new management) - have decided to take advantage of the 62+ no tuition college courses Georgia offers. Sounds nice until you try to complete an application. None of the schools I’ve checked out offer a separate application for the 62+ program, some say complete the graduate application, which I did for one school and then was told I had to apply undergrad which I tried, but it would not let me continue without identifying my parents or guardians, all my high school info, etc…huh? So, I entered my husband and myself…on and on and on. So much information needed, but really NOT needed, and won’t let me skip over the requirements. Wanted to do this online but they don’t show online, but then I google them and they show online. I just want to audit a couple of Art Appreciation or Art History classes before a European vacation next year. Please create a separate application for this program - this should be a lot easier than it is.
If it is trash day, there is a requirement that wind has to pick up to gale force 5. Today is trash day so… (but I decided I didn’t have enough to put it out just to blow around the neighborhood)
“The wealthy Maine attorney had 142,000 pornographic images and videos of children saved on his electronic devices and nearly 84,000 of those images depicted children under age 12. Some images showed children as young as 4 to 6.”
7 1/2 months. What is WRONG with our society? A lot of the images depicted abuse, too. I’m embarrassed for my adopted state.
I went out with 3 other women last night, people I didn’t know very well. The bill came and it was $300(round number), so the total bill with tip should be around $360. I am disclosing numbers to show how stupid it was. One woman didn’t have any wine, so we all agreed her bill should be $60 (with tax & tip). So I said three of us should pay $100. At the end of day we owed the restaurant $360, didn’t matter how we split it.
One woman said, “No, if the other woman is paying for her share of tip then we shouldn’t have to pay $60 tip.” I tried to convince her that my calculation was correct. She actually asked the waiter to cancel our charges and to redo it with “the right amount.” It caused a lot of commotions at the restaurant. And here is the drum roll. It was $5 less according to her calculation, which was wrong anyway.
What actually got to me was this woman has money and sits on number of boards.
Never again. I was so stressed.
