Minor vent in the grand scheme of things, but I swear I can’t get through a doctors appointment without waiting forever. Already 30 min in the main waiting room and counting. Almost everyone has come and gone. The only person here longer than me has been sniffling every 30 seconds! Ugh. At least she’s at the other end of the room.
And I am not sure they can even do one of the two cancer screenings today. Of course it’s the worst day possible. But if I tried to move it, it’d be another 6 months to wait. It’s been a little over 2 years already. And my body would make whatever they picked another bad one anyway. Sigh.
Ok Hilton. I need to make my wedding block reservation through your sales department…who NEVER answers the phone and doesn’t return calls. This is lousy customer service.
Just spent 75 minutes convincing my niece to call 988 and then make a plan for today and tomorrow. She’ll be safe and okay; really glad I bothered to take that Prevention course offered at work…
Almost two hours later and I’m done, and all I wish I had to worry about was waiting. Now I get to wait 1-2 weeks for biopsy results and schedule a surgical consult. Joy of joys… Guess it’s good that I didn’t wait 6 more months
edit - on the plus side, my hemoglobin was a high as it’s ever been non-pregnant. I could actually donate blood now
I think it was October when I raged about my H not being willing to get a new dog after our Leah passed at age 15. We didn’t speak for a few days, but then the death of a friend changed that. Well, our anniversary just passed and on that day he asked me what would our criteria be for our next rescue dog!
For those who reached out to me - thank you. You were right about his true reasons for being so defensive. We all handle our grief and sadness in different ways.
Does anyone have decent customer service anymore? H needs to fill out a retirement form on the state gov’t website. We’ve had an account for years. Every so often I get into it to look at his future pension and other stuff. But now, we have to change our password. But when you do, the website just spins and blips and does nothing. We’ve tried on 3 different computers (2 of which are brand spanking new), with both Chrome and Edge on three different WiFi networks. Same result.
This started several weeks ago… I filled out a technical support contact form. Wait 2 weeks. Nothing. I tried calling from work. The phone system says “We are unusually busy, leave a voicemail or look at our website.” No option to just wait. I leave a message with my cell phone number. Wait 2 more weeks. Nothing. I get on the website and find an email address for the webmaster. I try that. Nothing.
Next week (and yesterday), H tries calling and is told there’s an 18 minute wait. Progress! But he doesn’t have time at school. So I call and I only get the voicemail option. Try 3 more times and finally get a 16 minute wait! I finally get through and am told (as I suspected) that they can’t do anything because I’m not H. Can he call? Why no he can’t. He teaches all day and doesn’t get planning periods anymore. She promised me she’ll escalate the case to a supervisor who will call him at 3:30.
Do they call? Of course not. I get to work today to find that they called ME at my work phone number at 4:35pm. A number I have NEVER given them, nor is it in his profile. It’s the number I used to call a few weeks ago. They must have used caller ID instead of listening to the message and writing down the number I told them to call. Not to mention you can’t get straight to me. They had to work hard to leave a voicemail there. And basically the message said to try calling them again, oh but by the way we can’t do anything for you since you’re not H.
H finally gets a 30 min planning period today and tries to call again. He’s on hold for 25 minutes. Gets through and is told that he can’t give me permission to talk to them. They’ll only talk to me if I’m in the room when he’s there. But they can help him now! Um… now that he has 2 minutes? And he doesn’t do tech stuff. This will likely be beyond his capabilities. They need to talk to me.
BANGS HEAD AGAINST THE WALL OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!
Oh and the doctor’s office called. The consult that was supposed to be within the next two weeks? The first available appointment is March 20th. Why of course it is.
And while typing this, the dentist calls to confirm my appointment next week. I’ve confirmed with you over the phone twice already in the last week. Leave me alone!!! I know!
What is it about me? I have walked for years on the path around a local lake. It isn’t heavily travelled, and is used by walkers, bikers, etc. It is a lovely spot.
In November a preteen biking with her family ran into me full speed square in the back. I fell forward right on my chin. Left a big pool of blood and was quite banged up, while luckily not being really seriously injured. The “care” I got from anyone involved, including the local trauma equipped hospital (that I had to drive myself to), was truly substandard.
Yesterday, at the same park, I was on the same trail and came to the one location it crosses the park road. It is a marked crosswalk. I stopped at the road and a car stopped at the crosswalk. I proceeded to cross and after I was more than halfway across, I catch movement out of the corner of my eye and turn to see the car bearing down on me, inches away. Luckily, it was a small car and I yelled and leaned over onto the hood to avoid having the car take out my knees. I amazingly wasn’t injured at all, other than a muscle tweak. Not one person asked me if I was ok, including the woman driving the car, who didn’t even bother to roll down her window.
I know I look sturdy, but I’m a senior citizen, and I could use a little TLC. Maybe walking for my health isn’t the best option?
Sigh. DH was so worried about work that he got up to use his computer and woke me up accidentally an hour ago. It’s 4 am. I REALLY need sleep after the last 5-day marathon of work and almost no sleep. Not a great start to vacation. But I need to reset and let it go.
I picked up my son from his high school yesterday and watched a parade of students walk by as I waited. I could not help but note that about 90% of the kids wore either sweatpants, pajama pants or spray-on leggings. Many of them also wore flip flops or sandals. A good number of the girls wearing leggings also wore cut-off shirts showing midriffs or form fitting tops. My son told me there are kids who wear the same pajama pants all the time (do they have multiple pairs of identical pants, or do they just never change?). Call me a curmudgeon, but we would not let either of our boys go in public dressed like that. God knows, neither my mother nor my wife’s mother would let their daughters out of the house dressed like that.
Congrats to Intuitive Machines and SpaceX on getting the US back on our moon. Private companies are the future of space exploration with big goals and the expertise to realize them. Bravo!
