Over nails???

You just called. I know you are not happy.

I’m really sorry, but right now, my priority is not my nails.

I just can’t see spending $100+ on my nails twice a month.

Yes, I do have the money. But my priorities have changed. It’s not for a special event, and I don’t need them done early for Mother’s Day.

My groceries went from ~$109 a week (including Costco averages), to $220 per week (yeah, right, per supply chain issue leftovers from Covid).
My gas is $5.29 per gallon. So that extra $100 helps the pain of the grocery bill and at the pump.

Yes, I know it’s your livelihood, and your skills are great. I think it had something to do with how you treat your colleagues. Even with your current staff.
If you had been kinder to my hairstylist (of more than 20 years), who gave you all of her referrals, when her shop had to close, and then you refused to take her calls, that left a bad taste in my mouth.

Sorry, it’s a no right now.

6 yr from now when D26 graduates from college, DH & I will finally take the trip to Scotland and England that we’ve been talking about since 1995.

And we’re going to fly first class. I don’t care that 1st class tickets will be expensive. this will be our reward to ourselves for putting up with each other for 35 years at that point, raising 2 kids, putting them through college, and surviving it all. I want to fly there and back in one of those fancy airline seats that turns into a bed, where they feed you fancy food & drinks and you get pajamas to wear and all that good stuff.

When D24 was 4, my parents were supposed to go on a round-the-world cruise which started in Copehagen as a celebration for my mom surviving surgery, chemo, & radiation for pancreatic cancer. Except the morning after their arrival in Copenhagen, she became jaundiced and her medical team back home urged her to get back to the US ASAP. They flew home first class out of necessity, but my mom remarked afterwards that she wishes they could have experienced it in better circumstances. She died about 8 weeks later. They were so heartbroken. My mom was so looking forward to going on that trip and they wished that they hadn’t waited so long.

So DH & I are going to finally do our bucket list trip that we’ve been talking about forever. It’ll be an Adventures by Disney tour of somewhere in Scotland plus a few days in London to explore historical sites we’ve always talked about going to.

I’m guilty of over-talking boring stuff (just ask my kids), but I can’t even begin to compete with you. So many words…

It would greatly be appreciated for you to not check your phone every time you stop. You may not be in a hurry but not paying attention to a 10 second left turn green light and cause a lot of people to wait is kind of annoying…

Grateful mine are grown up and out of college. Grateful the little ones are in a safe, sane, reality based private school.

Folks…it’s crazy out there.

The Braggy McBraggerson kid who’s been bragging for the past 2 yr about her stellar GPA and 1580 SAT score is going…guess where? To the local state university that half of the graduating class is also going to be attending.

Yep. The kid who talked smack for 2 years about how SHE was going to go to a Top 20 college and if you can’t go to a Top 20, then you’re some sort of loser…yes, that kid will be attending a college which she said only earlier this school year is a college that “only people who can’t get in anywhere else” attend.

The same kid who openly disrespected an African-American student in class, claiming that he “was sure to get into Harvard because, ya know, he’s black.” :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

D24 has quietly seethed about this girl all year. Told my kid a couple of months ago, “Just you wait…by end of March, reality will set in and she’ll get really quiet.” Guess what? I was right.

I really hate it when students do this. I wish they would just shut the hell up because they truly have no stinking clue.

My kid is super glad that after graduation day, she won’t have to see or speak to that girl ever again. Can’t say I blame her. I felt the same way about some people by the time HS graduation came around.

I was thrilled this evening when S21 mentioned that he’d actually love to come home for a few days.

He has 8 days off (after his last final ends and before his summer internship begins)….and he wants to come home! :clap:t2:

We’ve seen him rarely this year (he traveled abroad last summer and then returned there briefly for Thanksgiving, and then came home for 3 days at Christmas before flying to visit gf’s parents overseas for New Year’s.

We’ve been up to visit him a couple times (DC) but younger brother, grandparents, and aunts/uncles would really like to see him if even for a tiny bit here in Florida where relatives all live.

So happy.

S2 said today that he’s planning to start a Master’s program this fall! He says it won’t carry the same weight in the US as it would in Ukraine, but it’s a VERY handy credential for things he’d like to pursue there and will help him get into a US Master’s program. And it will all be in Ukrainian!

Lots of bureaucracy to sort through first, as they have to figure out how they handle international students these days in this program. One of his friends was in this program before the war and she’s an American, so it can’t be too bad…I checked the website and there’s an entrance exam involved. No idea what that will entail – but I’m so happy he’s taking this step.

And he also has a very hot lead (and two interviews so far) for a US contractor working for a US agency in Ukraine.

HIs efforts are paying off. I’m so stinkin happy for him.

Since you are now in the Big 10 your message board seems to have gotten too big for its britches.

Saying “I told you so” is never a good look.

Sometimes we have experiences and we mainly see the shortcomings and negative aspects of those experiences. But then we read about others’ experiences, and we realize how much we have to be grateful for. Sending out wishes for everyone to see the blessings they’ve been given and prayers for those whose difficulties highlight our own blessings.

I am dealing with work stress by eating nachos. Don’t get me wrong, nachos are awesome. But this is decidedly not the healthiest response. And yes, spouse, I AM going to eat the whole plate I made. Go away.
