Say it Here ‘Cause You Can’t Say it Directly—The Get it Off Your Chest Thread (NO REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS)

Thank God I’m back in Maine. A week ago it was over 100 in Austin and I felt like I was baking in an oven. This morning, it was 51 and sunny. I wore a jacket to the gym. :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

This story is so upsetting. It’s senseless and didn’t have to happen.

PLEASE don’t drink and drive!!

Admittedly it’s my own fault, but now I can’t get the theme song from Pinky and the Brain out of my head.

I’m beginning to think you don’t like anyone…which is sad.

Dear Product Packaging Designers:

I understand the need for safety, and to keep items secure during shipping, but must everything be sealed with Superglue?

And don’t even get me started on those hard plastic clamshell containers, that never met a pair of scissors they couldn’t defy.

One of my pet peeves is when we’re expecting company but they’re not sure when they’re going to get here. It could have been last night, or this morning, and now it looks like it’s going to be this afternoon. It puts us in a weird limbo that’s very annoying.

Long live the Queen! Speed Queen that is. Amazing that we lasted 2 weeks without a washing machine!

I’ve come to realize that being a supervisor is not all that different from being a parent. But I really need to resist the temptation to start with “That tone of voice does not make me want to help you” while at the office.

Would have been so nice if some peoples’ parents had provided such feedback decades ago.

When you say you need space from our parent because she is being too difficult, it just means that I have to step in to do what you were supposed to do.
Do we ever say that about our kids - “ahh, I need some space from my child who is having a temper tantrum, so I am going to walk away for few days/weeks until I feel better about it. I am only going to give emotionally/financially/physically that I am comfortably in giving.” Ok, let me step in on your behalf until you feel better about yourself.
I am bitter about it because YOU told mom that you were going to take her back to see her relatives and I was going to bring her back. You refused to do it now because she is being a bit difficult, so now I have to do both ways. This is a 20 hour plane trip and 10 days of my life.

You planned and looked forward to this out of country trip with old friends for months. You forgot your birth certificate or passport, and will now have to take a plane trip home tomorrow instead of continuing on your trip.
So frustrating and sad. You could have really used that trip, and I know you’re kicking yourself.

There is a political commercial that has been airing during the six o’clock news hour that has a woman saying that something the incumbent supposedly did “pi$*es me off.” When on earth did it become acceptable to use that word in a network tv ad?? I hope that H & I are not the only ones who are disgusted by that.

I have absolutely no tolerance for poor customer service. Xfinity wins the prize for the worst customer service ever. We had a storm last week with straight line winds that blew off the top of a pine tree. It took out our Xfinity lines when it fell. It’s now been a week since we’ve had cable or internet. I have scheduled two appointments for field service to come repair the lines - they didn’t show Friday, so I called again Saturday. I wasn’t home over the weekend, so someone was supposed to come today. No one came. My H is currently at the Xfinity store, hoping someone can help. It doesn’t sound promising, but I have not yet heard for sure. They don’t have a social media listening presence (unless it’s on X, which I refuse to support), so no way to complain outside their awful chat and phone non-service. I know, first world problems. But incredibly annoying. Oh, and I have to sit on my porch to get a decent cell signal.

Just read a headline in WaPo citing how many students have been affected by gun violence since Columbine, which was in 1999. I have so many connections to the Heath shooting in 1997 (next door neighbor in prayer circle that was attacked, friends with assistant principal, shooter in preschool & kindergarten with oldest child, on and on…). I read that and wonder why Columbine is the baseline, as if those prior don’t count as much. All lives lost are precious, as are all students, teachers & community members affected, and I continue to wonder when we demand real change.

Thoughts and prayers will not bring one soul back to their family and friends. :broken_heart:
