Say it Here ‘Cause You Can’t Say it Directly—The Get it Off Your Chest Thread (NO REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS)

I’m still concerned about you. You really need things to work out in your life.

Whew (sort of) - when jackhammering started at 7:30 this morning I stuck my head outside the gate a bit later and ended up having a nice chat with the guy who’s helping the owner with… building a one story home for his daughter. And it should be done in four months. And my noise canceling earmuffs arrive today.

Last year, I lost a friend to cancer. 4 months from diagnosis to the end.

Last month, I lost a friend to cancer. 6 months.

Just found out, a friend of mine has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Probably be gone by Christmas.

Cancer sucks. Getting old sucks.

I finally sent a letter to the secretary of the homeowners association our house is in.

“I have lots of apprehensions bringing this up.

On my walk Saturday, I saw one trump flag and no less than 4 RV’s parked in driveways. One has its awning up and sliders out.

Another house has a hammock, a soccer net, a trampoline and a play structure. All of which I think are allowed but it seems like a lot.

I understand that it’s difficult to uphold the property rules but things seem to be a bit out of control. I know an email was sent out in June but it seems that it was ineffective.

I guess if we are having trouble getting rules followed, maybe we should abandon any pretense.

I’d like to have a shed in my side yard which I know is prohibited but would it look worse than no less than 4 things in another backyard? Or RV’s? There’s even a shed in a backyard?

I’m not upset or angry. Just confused”

Call me a cranky old lady. I don’t actually care that much but they are very much a pain in the butt about having a shed

Years ago my wife and I took our kids and my parents on an Alaskan cruise. It was a great experience on a small ship with no casino, daily educational programs hosted by an onboard biologist, a historian, a botanist, and more.

There was a small lounge, “Club Great Sound”, which we felt was a very clever name for a Pacific Northwest/Alaska cruise ship, but I came up with a different name that I thought was even more clever, and felt compelled to share with the onboard biologist. My father was with me when I told the biologist they should rename it “Club Baby Seal”; my dad was initially shocked until the biologist burst out laughing.

I don’t know which emotion I feel more of right now. There is a lovely restaurant near us where we spent many, many lovely times with family and friends. The business next door caught fire a couple years ago, and the restaurant burned down. The owners began rebuilding, but the man who bought the property next door sued them because they rebuilt where their wall had always stood. It was six inches into his property, and he refused to honor the agreement that the previous owner of the business that caused the fire had made to allow it. It’s an historic building that stood for years, but he didn’t care. It ended up being dragged out for too long. The court date scheduled for this month got postponed. Today, the restaurant owners decided that they are done, and they put it up for sale. I’m sad … but I’m so mad. I hope karma is real.

If a Boeing machinist is welding a burn barrel, strike is imminent…

Time to eat out and support local businesses while the striking workers can’t.

That was nuts. I may not sleep tonight.

The new CEO of Boeing bought a house in Seattle! What is most impressive is that the house is 96 years old, under 3,800 sft, and cost only $4M. Wow. That’s like what a Google engineer would buy. There is hope. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

No, we are not using one of the bedrooms for storage. You might have to part with some of your boxes of junk. If I parted with china and crystal because there wasn’t enough room, I think you can get rid of some ratty t-shirts. I am starting to see why old people get divorced.

What a spectacular day in the Northeast! One of those grateful to be alive days. But maybe it’s not such a fabulous idea to be sitting under the shade of a big old oak tree. Thankful for quick reflexes and the sturdiness of my iPad cover when I needed to use it as a quickie helmet for falling acorns.

Visited an older former co-worker at memory care for the first time last week, along with his wife (also a friend). This week I’ll go by myself. Sigh… just entered my first nursing home / room number address entry into my cellphone address book… the aging part of retirement is not as much fun as the freedom perks.

I helped my Dad in the Austin heat last month, and yesterday l left the house at 3 am to drive to Philadelphia to help my daughter move into a 2nd floor apartment in 85 degree heat. I don’t like heat or big cities! I may be a little less quick to volunteer in the future.

Why is it so difficult to buy a new phone? And why is the process so opaque?

OMG!! Who decided wallpaper was going to be a thing again! NO, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! Please just paint, not even faux paint, just plain old fashioned flat paint, and satin paint, and gloss paint - that is all that is needed!
