USPS- WTH???

The package I sent on Saturday was supposed to be in California yesterday. Tracking says it is still in a central facility near me (far from California). I has been there since 2AM on Sunday morning, so why has it not left there???

Thank you Walmart for having the sauce I wanted relatively inexpensively. NO THANKS for it being delivered with half the jars open and leaking all over the other half, and the box, and me (I picked it up from outside my garage in the dark and had no idea what it was or what was sticky on my hands - ICK). Had to call Walmart multiple times, and did a re-order. Fingers crossed the new order is better, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

(posting here because I don’t want people on my social media to think I’m bragging)

My sister has an entire set of kitchenware that she was saving to give to 1 of my kids when 1 of them moves into their 1st apartment. Somebody at her local dog park who she’s become friends with mentioned that her church was looking for donations of housewares to help out a local refugee family that the church had adopted.

So my sister donated all of the kitchen stuff. Entire set of 8 plates, bowls, utensils, cooking utensils, pots, pans, mixing bowls, the whole 9 yards.

She went recently to the dog park and her dog park friend/neighbor was there. Dog park friend told my sister that she (dog park person) went w/another church member to deliver all of the stuff to the refugee family - a mom and child from Rwanda. When they dropped off the donations, the child said to the mother, “Are we rich now?” The mom and child were making do with just 2 small bowls and plates. When she told me this, I cried. Happy tears! And as I’m typing it out right now, I’m crying again.

So if whatever is on the news gets you down, just remember that there’s good people out there, doing random acts of kindness for no particular reason. It’s just like Mr. Rogers used to say…look for the helpers.

Lowe’s, I hate you. We pushed the handyman company to come today to replace the water valve. He went to look at the new fridge pending in the garage to make sure he has the right connection, and it turns out it was smashed in on the back bottom by the compressor. So now we’re trying to get a replacement fridge and they’re trying to tell husband three more weeks. Argggggggh. Handyman has to return anyway, but now there may not be a rush.

That label in the fridge we bought a few months ago warning about food freezing if you block the vents is spot on. Alas, we didn’t notice it until after the glut of Thanksgiving leftovers filled the top shelf. Oopsy.

In October there was a post on Next Door about a bunch of cop cars all ‘staged’ near a park near me, and that one of the cops said they were serving a warrant. We all thought it was for someone on that street but no, it turns out it was on MY street, about 4 houses up and across the street (I live in an old 1950s neighborhood with mostly ranch 3 bedroom (no master), 2 bath houses). We’d been watching the new occupants all summer. Tons of cars, tons of street traffic on a street with no stores, appts, gas stations, etc. Finally someone must have reported them and the big raid was done with a broken front window and an eviction. They had to be out Nov 22. For the last few weeks they’ve been moving out, some cars still there, boxes on the front steps and in the garage.

Today I came home around 1:30 and on the house side of the street were about 8 cops wearing black vests and on the other side of the street were about 10 people wearing white hazmat suits. Then the hazmat people walked down the street (in front of my house) and more cop cars arrived. Then more hazmat people. It was like Ghostbusters.

We think it was a meth house but what they actually got evicted for was underage prostitution (on the night of the raid).

And this is why we need the nosy neighbors who reported them. I think they lived there less than 4 months.

A few days ago, I left a message for Computer Guy to get his advice about buying a new computer. He didn’t call back, which was odd. I googled him and learned that he passed away on October 31. He was only 65. No cause of death was listed, and I don’t know his wife well enough to call her. Wow, this sucks. He was a good guy. He helped us out for more than 20 years. We had many long conversations while he worked on our computers. Ugh.

I have just never understood children waiting at the school bus stop in t-shirts when the temperature is in the 20s.

Read my DDs essay at very, very last minute. Suggested she include a word. Word misspelled but not caught by spelling check. Essay submitted. If she is denied, I will forever blame myself for misspelling. Being a mom stinks sometimes.

I know this is an all inclusive resort and you all may feel you are already paying a lot of money, but when you are a party of 15 people with half of them are children under 6, it would be nice if you could tip the wait staff who are cleaning up after your children.
I am disgusted how ill behaved those kids are - throwing food on the floor and breaking dishes

We have 6 ppl arriving for vacation from 3 different airports. (How is it we are the only ones not going non-stop, when we paid for most of the tix?). Hoping the flying gods are kind to us, and we all arrive relatively on-time.

NO!!! I can’t believe that a Jeopardy answer actually used the term b**b for breast. There was no reason for that crassness.

I think the Fed Ex truck carrying my Lou Malnati pizzas must have been highjacked or abducted by aliens. It was due by 6:30. I tracked the truck in the immediate vicinity, including the top of our street, between 6:00 and 6:40 as it kept changing places. Now the tracking is gone and all they say is “We’ll add a delivery date as soon as your package starts moving.”

USPS-the package I sent that was supposed to be delivered on Monday is now 4 days late! Thankfully I sent it with room to spare, but it HAS to be at the destination in the next few days, or we will have to go to Plan B.
And there is no Plan B.

Went to a matinee to see Gladiator 2. Never again. It was a theatre of rude senior citizens - talking, phones not silenced, using the phone light etc. The man behind me crumbled a popcorn bag for 2 hours - not an exaggeration. People were getting up and moving, which I couldn’t because I was with my MIL who is in a wheelchair. It was honestly the worst theater experience.
