That was quite the halftime show.

As I sit in front of our Christmas tree sipping a nice Cabernet I can’t help but think of a certain LEO working his shift tonight.
Todays observation…every driver on the road got a lobotomy for Christmas.
To the idiots from the funeral home that removed my deceased tenant from her 2nd floor apartment yesterday: You totally disparaged and disrespected that poor woman’s body, her life and her relationships with her family and friends in the way you removed her from the building.
I saw on the videos in my office how you handled her body and I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemies.
Get with the program and behave like the professionals you want people to believe you are.
This morning we had to have our beloved cat euthanized. He was legendary - a tough guy from the streets adopted by us at age 5. A bully who could not be reprimanded and who could be absolutely exhausting! But he loved me with all his heart as I did him. Every single morning he would sit in my lap while I drank my coffee. He’d sit in a chair by the front door and wait for me to come home. When I called, he came running like a dog. I just can’t believe he’s gone. 1/27/2012 - 12/27/2024
Note to self: Fake it till you make it.
I’m really, really, really enjoying myself.
A wonderful Christmas with Dad, then two days later he’s in the ER. It’s exhausting for him and all of us. I’m supposed to go back to Maine on Sunday, but should I? Ugh.
I think today is a chocolate for breakfast day.
A horrible accident has been in the news the past 24 hours. A teenager crossed the center line and hit a car carrying three adults. And we just found out the people hit are H’s good friend, his wife & his sister in law. Unfortunately , the wife’s sister died. Our friend is in stable condition, but his wife is in critical condition. ![]()
Update: They were driving to pick up the sister in law’s husband’s vehicle. He is still hospitalized in critical condition after being rescued from a fall through the ice the previous day. Just unimaginable for that family.
I’ve had quite a time this year with miscoded medical bills, wrong bills, having to call customer service over and over. So it is the end of the year and I wanted to make sure I didn’t do anything wrong. I’ve made calls about my eye benefits. ‘Oh, just go to anywhere and send in for reimbursement.’ I had another question about the eye exam itself and called back. WRONG. Can only go to a place that can be billed directly (not Costco). Took me a bunch of calls to find an exam that would be covered.
So they called ME to make sure I was using all my benefits before the end of the year. I said I had some receipts for the fitness benefits and the ‘benefits manager’ said I could do it on the app, just take photos of the receipts and submit. I preferred that to getting things to a PO Box lost in the holiday mail. Nope, only medical claims can be submitted on the app, not fitness. So now I have to send them by fax to get there on time. And a different claim for EVERY item, even if purchased on the same receipt, so it is going to be many pages long to fax. Some things I bought when they were allowed (medicare changed which items could be covered in April, and I bought shoes in March) I thought wouldn’t be covered but customer service told me a month or so ago to submit.
Who thinks I’m getting reimbursed for these things?
I wanted a shotgun not a pistol.
Less aiming and more scary image.
I miss the days of 3-4 week college winter breaks. 1 week, and sharing it with the boyfriend, wasn’t nearly long enough. ![]()
You think you have it all figured out, only to find out you don’t. (Medicare) Word of caution: Don’t get vaccines in the doctor’s office. Go to the pharmacy. Because even if your doctor’s staff seems to know the system, you might find out differently. Oh, and if your well exam coincides with the month you turn 65 - but you are still 64 when you get the exam - their system might automatically code it as under-64 and Medicare will deny it. Argh. And I’m still waiting for the hospital and insurance company to figure out how to code and date things so that the mammogram I had on my pre-Medicare insurance is free to me, as it should be. I don’t like dealing with insurance issues!
Omg save me from elderly men who think they know computers…

Learn to say “thank you” for gifts. Please?
You are in assisted living. Every need is being handled by the most competent and caring staff. Your husband’s adult children are managing your finances and paying your bills.
Your “single” finances would not enable your stay here.
Keep complaining about the flower arrangements (I had the first one replaced) and Harry and David Fruit (also replaced — with another complaint on the second batch).
Oh, and the constant checks you are writing to charities! Wow!
I know life isn’t fair, but this poor family. I posted earlier about how our friends were hit head on & their passenger (the wife’s sister) died. They were on their way to get the sister’s husband’s car, because he was hospitalized after falling through the ice the previous day. Now he has passed away. H & I have had some serious health issues in our extended family weighing on us this holiday, but they are normal issues. Tragedies like those visited on our friends are just so hard to comprehend.
