Say it Here ‘Cause You Can’t Say it Directly—The Get it Off Your Chest Thread (NO REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS)

There is nothing worse than a man with a cold. Unless it’s a man who lives in your house and gives it to you.

A neighbor was saying how he avoids being caught by the insurance company by using the back door. He was injured (not sure how, if it was on the job or not) and is fine now. But, I guess he is trying to stay on disability despite being well. He had no problem telling this to a crowd of neighbors yesterday. Me, I think he is perpetrating insurance fraud. Not sure how others who heard him felt.

I’m not sure what is going on anymore. Am I getting old? Am I less patient? Is it the holidays?

My tolerance for a lot is very limited!

I just can’t!

Just because your kid got a B (or even a C) doesn’t mean it’s because the course had a “notoriously tough professor,” “harsh grader,” “horrible teacher,” or someone who “doesn’t know how to teach the material.” I don’t care if they earned As in all their other courses. Anything less than an A usually means the student didn’t produce A-quality work. And that’s okay. A B or C is nothing to be ashamed about.

But when you validate the professor as the reason your kid did average (or even poorly) in a course, you’re doing your kid a great disservice. All that does is teach them that anything less than perfection is due to someone else. And the fallout from that is a nightmare for anyone who has to interact with them in college, on the job, in a relationship, or just in life in general. Please stop.

I truly hope that you are okay. However, you saw a radiologist report in your patient portal. It didn’t say that you have cancer, it said that there is an area of concern. You need to wait until you talk to your doctor before you start jumping to conclusions about your future. (Not my immediate family.)

Well, this will be an interesting few days. There’s not much snow at the slopes, two of the grandkids and my daughter-in-law are sick and not sure if they’re even going to be able to make their flight today. Well, I guess our suitcases that are full of holiday gifts may come home with holiday gifts if we end up by ourselves on this trip

My elderly neighbors love my dog. I dropped him off a bit ago so they could all visit while I went and did some Christmas shopping. They act like he is one of their grandchildren and spoil him rotten. He loves going to see them too.

While shopping I came across these. I tell you, I couldn’t order a pair with a better representation of my brat then this. I hope Ms. Nancy loves them.

Oh my gosh. Have you ever been so furious at your spouse that you don’t know how to get over it?

I’m in Austin. My daughter is on a plane from Philadelphia and will arrive at noon. DH and son were supposed to be on a flight at 5:30 am. DH called and woke me up at 6 am my time. He overslept and they missed their flight. He rebooked for $850 and they will arrive at 7 pm. We’re all supposed to be at a live music event that starts at 6. I may ask him to get an Uber. What’s a few more dollars now? I know I should just be grateful they can get here today but wow am I mad.

Ooops, and now D just texted that her first plane is delayed a couple of hours and she will have to be rebooked.

Friendly reminder for wintertime driving. Take the time to defrost or scrape your windshield before driving, especially if you are traveling through an area where there are often pedestrians, bikes, (and kids!) I always assume cars don’t see me, but it was very obvious (s)he didn’t as they turned in front of me without slowing down. The entire windshield was frozen over except for a small sponge size area. As bad as it was on that street, at least that street is 25 mph… He was turning onto a 45 mph business highway.

Take the 2 minutes and scrape the windshield! You might save a life or two.

Today is not that day…

Four years have flown.

Just paid last tuition bill for my May 2025 graduating college senior.

Surreal.
Thrilled financially, but it’s still shocking he’s almost finished with school.

Update: Turns out Southwest didn’t charge my husband a penny to rebook. The amount I saw at the bottom of the emailed receipt was the original purchase price. Yay! Then my BIL said he’ll pick up my husband and son so I can still go to the concert.

My daughter landed an hour and a half ago. It took them awhile to find her bag and now her cousin is fighting airport traffic to pick her up.

So I’m feeling much better. :slightly_smiling_face:

I foolishly went to the mall yesterday and then realized there was no Bronco game so it was twice as busy as normal.

Today I went to Costco, thinking it opened at 9:30 but it was 10 (but they let us in at 9:45). I wanted a computer, which is at the front of the store. I thought “Oh, I’ll just grab a chicken and some bananas and green beans.” OMG, it was nightmarish in the back of the store. Also, this wasn’t my normal store so I didn’t really know where anything was. No idea what I bought or how much it cost. I was through check out by 10:30.

Getting out of the parking lot was also a treat. There were FIVE Teslas in a row trying to cut in front of me.

When your daughter asks for gift cards, I assume you’re getting them, being as I’ve been A - On a trip, and B- Down and out with a cold since I got home. You can’t tell her it’s in the money we’re giving all of them. She needs the same amount in cards as we have in gifts for her sister.

At least I can go out in the morning. Sigh.

Why do I bother engaging when the arrogance and condescension is a given? New Year’s resolution: just don’t do it.
