We have to talk about what to do if the nursing home closes as a result of residents’ aid being cut. I don’t like it either, but pretending it couldn’t ever happen seems kinda risky.
You’ve saved your whole life so don’t say that you needed to think about spending $900 for the cataract surgery. You have literally millions in the bank. ![]()
I’m apparently the only person who reads the contract.
Early morning drenching rain here in the desert. Savoring my first cup of coffee while watching it stream down my (formerly clean) windows and listening to that wonderful drumbeat on the roof. Simple things mean so much to me these days.
Gorgeous day.
68 and sunny with blue skies. Sitting by a park and listening to music being played, the soft sounds of a fountain, and seeing a small group of seasoned women engaging in a group movement exercise class in a shaded area.
People biking by, walking, and jogging.
My kindle will now be opened to resume a book on sociopaths and written by one.
Gotcha, didn’t I.
I appreciate simple nature and its beauty, but also fascinated by dark side of nature, too.
Wow, it’s nice to get some good news after this horrible week (in a nutshell, our two younger kids are being difficult, to say the least). A landlord stiffed us about $6,000 three years ago. She claimed DH had told her the project design would cost $500-$600 instead of $5,000-$6,000. We retained a collection agency, and after attempts to contact her failed, they said they would sue her. We’d get 50% of any money recovered from her, but we wouldn’t be responsible for legal fees.
I’d given up on it, but they just called and said she offered to settle for $3,000. The amount she owes is now over $11,000 due to interest and legal fees. The agency recommended that we counter for $7,500. If she has a decent attorney, I think she will agree, because our case is very strong - she signed a contract with the cost estimate included in the cover letter. It would make me so happy if she ended up paying 25% more than she originally owed us! ![]()
IF we get the money, we’re going to give it to an aid worker our son worked with in Beirut. He’s still over there, helping refugees. His infant son just needed major heart surgery and they are desperate for funds.
I got yelled at a couple of days ago.
Working in the yard planting trees. Long day. Got in the Subaru, loaded up the dogs, and drove to the corner store where I bought beer. (I was thirsty and don’t like alcohol other than wine so I live mostly on black coffee and water.) Well, that day I showed weakness and bought some beer.
Drove home.
When my wife found out that I had transported beer while the dogs were in the car, she berated me. Told me I was a bad influence. Thank God that I didn’t tell her about the lottery tickets.
Saddened that one of my kids has a mental illness that so many people fear. He’s a nice kid who walks dogs.
I am so tired of those EZ pass bill texts I keep getting. I delete and report as spam every single one, but they don’t stop. Argh.
I’ve been getting reminder emails from the Kings County (Brooklyn NYC) Board of Elections to do online training so I can work on early voting (9 days) and Primary Day for NYC mayor, city council, etc. on June 24. Out with the old, in with the new!
You made plans without checking with my schedule. So don’t be annoyed with me.
Oh, my gosh!!! TMI in your Facebook post about your recent colon procedure! ![]()
It’s like a Christmas miracle–my clocks work again !
Our cat is dying. My MIL is dying. My SIL just started a year-long series of cancer treatments. Put all of that alongside the current political environment, and it’s pretty overwhelming at my house these days. We are among the fortunate, so it really weighs on me that others are hurting even more. ![]()
You told me floor length, I got floor length, and now your Mom says absolutely not getting floor length it’s too formal. So what do I do now?
Why do I feel like I lost more than 1 hour today?
I can’t believe the ridiculous things I worry about when it comes to my 29yo. When does it stop? I’ll never say a thing, of course, but my mom spidey senses are up.
Toddlers are such a hoot! Especially if you can play with them for a little while and then give them back to their parents. ![]()
