I didn’t want a $22 airport hamburger, so I opted for the $8 chocolate shake, something my body isn’t really accustomed to.
They make a mistake making it and started over. When I asked what they were going to with the faulty shake, they replied “it’s going in the trash, unless you want it.” So I got 2 for the price of one and now I’m sitting on a plane with a caffeine/sugar high.
Big mistake.
Biting my tongue because I know all the “secrets” of the awful neighbors’ house that just sold to a lovely young couple. I know where there is likely mold and what was done without permits. I feel like I at least have to drop off a welcome basket of alcohol and sage so they could get rid of the bad juju. The last owners were just downright awful people.
Normally I really like informed delivery for my mail. But today - I am receiving tax bills for the house and the cars, my health insurance premium information for 2026 and an invitation to a holiday party given by an investment advisor. I might have to start sending myself “good” mail.
Good to see someone with backbone who has taken decisive action, although it took more time than it probably should have.
My dear friend: I am so glad I told you that what seemed to you a small thing you did for me almost 50 years ago meant ( and still means) the world to me. And that I will always love you for that.
To my DH
Halloween candy is not a breakfast food.
Please do not open the bag before the trick-or-treaters are at the door.
Kudos to Billie Eilish, her speech upon acceptance of the Music Innovator Award, and her $11.5 million donation.
Not happy one bit! Before going to bed Saturday we have to set the clocks back an hour - that means it’s dark when I get off work (at 5!) and no after work bike riding ![]()
I’ll see you March 8th when I can set it forward and have more daylight!
My espresso machine has officially really died, and is in the trash. I will be very cranky between now and when the Black Friday sale I’m planning to buy a new one during occurs. (Fortunately said sale starts Nov 17th - I called and they told me).
Just finished passing out our 20 pounds of Halloween candy in 1:30. I’m very happy to report it went much better this year. All the kids were respectful and nobody climbed over our bank, ran through the yards, etc. And when I ran out people were nice about it! Last year it was a zoo and when I ran out of candy, a woman very snottily told me to go to Walmart and buy some more. But it was a great night tonight!
Why my husband will not let us turn off all lights and go out to dinner with other retirees is beyond me. He said we live in a neighborhood with kids………..so, we live in a neighborhood with a few other retirees as well and they all have their lights out and didn’t spend a small fortune on candy. Please let it be 9:00 pm soon so I can turn out porch lights
I loved tonight’s rendition of the Canadian National Anthem at the World Series. Soulbear was the artist. I’d never heard of him before, though I have lived in Canada in a different lifetime and know that anthem about as well as the US one. I really enjoyed it.
80 kids … and we got to know our newest neighbors. A win!
Zero trick or treaters…again. Maybe next year.
No trick or treaters, AND my husband didn’t open the $25 bag of candy to eat himself :). He may or may not return it to CVS like I suggested he do when he brought it home. (In the 19/20 Halloweens we’ve been in our home we’ve had less than 10ish trick or treaters ever).
No trick or treaters here. H is eyeing the Kit-Kats.
Weird Halloween for us. Usually we get very young kids early on, and then middle and even high school kids. We’re always amazed at how polite they all are. This year the little ones were really rude. I work with kids, I work with neuro-diverse kids, so I am not mistaking this for rudeness. I also don’t expect kids to “perform” for candy. I just don’t expect them to ignore me and dive into the candy bucket with both hands while I’m trying to hand them candy. It was just weird. Are these the Covid babies? (I’m guessing they were all between 3-7)
I am shocked that I had to turn off the lights at 7:30 after running out of candy! We have very few kids on my street and a lot of old people who don’t give out candy.
The kids were great. Very appreciative and polite ![]()
