Say it Here ‘Cause You Can’t Say it Directly—The Get it Off Your Chest Thread (NO REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS)

There are still good people left in the world! This was a bad time for my printer to die and I just bought new ink 13 days ago. I was able to return all of it and they were kind enough to take one that was open because I tried to use the cartridge that stopped working. I thanked them profusely, brought a box of candy, which they officially said they couldn’t accept, but I asked for the manager, thanked him for his wonderful staff and said I was going to “accidentally” leave this box of candy on the counter for them  The amount I saved on ink cartridge returns should pay for a good portion of a new printer.

How is it that every customer service phone line is always “experiencing higher than normal call volumes”?

When exactly are your “normal” call volumes?

If it’s always higher than normal, then that is normal. Hire more people!! And I mean real people, not AI chatbots.

USPS: I ordered and paid for stamps because I don’t have time to run to the post office right now. My post office account said they were to be delivered yesterday. So far no stamps have shown up, but my credit card has been charged for them. Grrr….

Costco: I ordered a box of Size 2 Huggies ( for an infant grandchild). You sent a box of adult Depends instead! I guess I could cut them down to fit…of course I had to return the Depends. At least I was able to laugh about that one ( in part because the UPS store is only 3 blocks from my house.

I’m glad we got the house sold, that keeps it off the estate books. I know we all agreed to split the money among us because that’s what you want but honest to god DH and I lie awake at night trying to figure out what the heck to do with ours. We’ve never had this much. I feel like we will do something wrong. Eeeep.

My apartment building is about 60 units for 55+. We are two of the youngest in the building, lots of over 80 and even over 90. Some don’t belong here (need help). In the 4 years we have been here, 9 residents have died, since September there have been 4 deaths. This is not what I expected from 55+ living. I have to keep telling myself these people are more than 25 years older than us!

Your kids hear what you say and see how you act. Your kids are learning lessons from you that you may not realize you’re teaching them. Do your darndest to make sure they’re lessons that you would be proud to have credited to you.

The weather is gorgeous in Denver this week (and next) but today there is supposed to be big wind, like ‘shut down the electric grid’ wind. They’ve cancelled school in Boulder county because the winds are expected to cause chaos and would be dangerous for buses to be on the road.

And why today? Because it is trash day and I can’t put the trash/recycle/compost bins out until much later. Any kind of ‘weather’ always happens on Wednesdays.

Today’s Issue: I happened to look at Son’s checking account this morning and the balance had gone down a LOT. There were five DoorDash charges for a total of $245. S doesn’t even have a smart phone, so I knew something was up.

It turns out that Son gave Roommate his debit card number quite awhile back so R could buy S a bagel on DoorDash. I guess R figured it was fine to use it as much as he wanted! I called the bank, and they may be able to reverse the charges since they were unauthorized. Of course, R should pay him back, but who knows if he will. S called the staff at his house and they had a stern conversation with R. Of course, I canceled the debit card and they’ll send out another.

Almost every day it’s something!

This is a first world problem. I need to buy a new car. I haven’t had a new car in forever! I can’t believe how expensive they are. I don’t need or want half of the “stuff” that new vehicles come with - I just want to go from point A to point B, park, grocery shop, go to the vet, whatever. Or that’s what I’m telling myself in hopes of talking myself out of the absolutely ridiculous Mercedes convertible I have always wanted and can finally afford. Sigh. Even when I finally have the money to get what I want I’m afraid to part with it.

Dear Neighbor. So you got a dog. She is a beautiful nordic breed. She has been tied up, outside, 24/7 since you got her. Today her bed is wet from the drizzle. She is sadly laying on the patio staring at the sliding glass doors - which have the drapes drawn shut. Why? Why? Why? did you get a dog? My heart breaks for this beautiful animal.

And, telling me to ‘be sure my dog is on a leash’ since you now have one and her chain reaches to edge of your fence’, just makes you an even bigger putz. That poor girl is too depressed to even get up, much less act as a protector for your family.

Get a danged fish!

It was fun following the Major League Soccer SuperDraft this afternoon. Four young men I know through my son saw their names called. I know it’s not one of the “big” sports, but it has to feel great when you get the call. Now I’ll be 2 degrees of separation away from Messi. LOL!

I had a biopsy done last week and made a point to avoid Dr. Google. My follow-up is tomorrow so I wanted to do a little research today to be prepared with good questions. Wish I hadn’t done that. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

ETA: Letting y’all know that the biopsy showed absolutely nothing, including the thing he thought it was and that seemed to really match my symptoms. Sending me to a specialist.

An update to the sad Nordic doggie I mentioned upthread.

Walked by the house this morning and she wasn’t outside. The property is having some work done so I asked one of the workers where doggie might be. Turns out she ‘attacked’ the worker after having slipped out of her collar. She has been returned to the local shelter. Supposedly she had a history of this type of behavior. I mentioned that she was at best aloof and at worst just to sad to lift her head when my doggie and I walked past. The worker mentioned that she supposedly came from a ‘kind female household’. She looked like the perfect COVID puppy…probably a mass of rolling fur that grew up and became what her breed intended her to be. A creature with exercise needs.

Anyhow, I am stopping by the shelter today just to pass on info. Maybe it will put these folks on the ‘not suitable for adoption’ list.

Dear Buy Nothing acquaintance,

I am happy to pass the Williams Sonoma wreath to you now that I can’t find my wreath holder. While beautiful, I can see why my IRL friend put it out to the group, and you seem to really want it so it will make me happy to give it to you. Now, if you would be moved to give ME your holiday bazaar tix, well, that would be a wonderful coincidence.

Signed,
The spirit of the season, if perhaps not the spirit of the group :grimacing:
