Say it here cause you can't say it directly- the get it off your chest thread (Part 1)

Dear Children’s Hospital: You provide fine service and I am so glad to have your institution in my community. However, is a 13 minute survey really necessary? Every time we’re there for any reason? I’d happily give you 2 or 3 minutes after a significant treatment, but I’m not going to sit on the phone answering questions on a scale of 1 to 5 for 13 minutes for a service it took less than 13 minutes to provide.

Come on, people, it’s only day 2 of the new school year. I was hoping you’d outgrown the childish drama over the summer. (Yes, I’m talking to you, senior faculty members)

Aaargh! I bought my books ahead of time. I figured out how to submit a paper online. But I didn’t know I needed to buy a parking pass ahead or they would completely run out! Looks like I will be walking more.

Wow, the chicken pox vaccine is not covered under the UK’s health care system! It costs 200 pounds, so very few people get it for their kids. :frowning: British people on Facebook are arguing with me that it’s better not to get the vaccine for kids. Sigh, I will back away now…

Everyone has a story left untold, so never judge someone as if you know their entire story because the truth is you probably don’t.

Oh, I am soooooooo relieved. Maybe you should learn a lesson from your near-miss.

I love my job, I really do.

But after 3 days in adult shoes, my feet are crying out for flip flops

My spouse spend $$$$ to fly our freshman DD home for labor day weekend this weekend, which will be 2 weeks after we dropped her off. She was afraid she would be homesick or “the only student left on campus”. I argued against it and said that nobody would fly home for a 3 day weekend, and she would probably love having the day off to enjoy with new friends. The tickets were bought anyway. Here we are, and all her friends are staying on campus for the fun and traditions surrounding the first home game, and she is having to come home to miss it and wishes she could stay, but feels bad becuase we spent so much to buy the tickets.

I can’t say it elsewhere, so I’ll say it here where it is allowed: I TOLD YOU SO!!!

Hmm…don’t really feel any better. oh well.

I am noticing some issues with my 9 year old corgi’s back legs…haven’t taken her to the vet yet , but a little online research revealed some things I fear…then when I brushed my golden retriever’s teeth, I spotted what I thought was a bad tooth…nope, it is a growth of some sort. I really need some positive vibes

I chose my part of town for the all old trees that made it pretty and perfect for walks in the summer. The town decided to use up some extra money they had by cutting down ALL the trees to fix a few areas of sidewalk. In one day my verdant street has become a bald moonscape. I passed by my own house coming home. It looked so alien. I am so sad.

It started with the hot tub leaking. Called the guy. $950 to replace part of the pump, which has cracked.

The Invisible Fence collar for one of our dogs isn’t working. New battery didn’t fix the problem. Probably going to be money to fix.

The picture on our main 55-inch TV in the family room is all screwed up. The person from the Geek Squad ($100 for diagnosis only) said fixing it would cost more than a new TV. So, replacement TV expected to be ~$600 to $1,200.

DH’s credit card number was stolen. Thankfully the credit card company is on top of things (no, DH did not pay for $75 of Domino’s pizza in the Bronx --) so there’s no cost to us – just the inconvenience of DH having to change all his autopayments.

And now, DH’s pacemaker is the subject of a voluntary recall.

BUT, at least I don’t live in Houston.

What a bunch of judgmental people.

Somehow I feel oddly proud when I make Malaysian-Indian seafood curry with shrimp and clams while my roommates eat microwave pizza.

What you did was staggeringly rude.

How nice that you think everything is going well for the start of school. At least, I assume you must think that, since you haven’t asked. You haven’t checked in on us, you’ve come in late & left early, you went on what I consider to be a very poorly-timed junket this week … but no biggie, right, because everything just magically happens. Little elves come & do it all in the middle of the night. Oh, wait … that is US, still here in the middle of the night, because THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO & SO FEW STAFF MEMBERS TO DO IT. There, I said it - and it doesn’t matter that you won’t see this, because you wouldn’t pay attention if you did.

I was walking the eight month old service puppy I am raising through the neighborhood on my usual route when a neighbor’s three dogs came bursting out of the door. A pit bull lunged at my puppy’s throat and bit down. The owner, who had been out in the yard, pulled him off, but before I could get away, the dog did it again.

I have never seen the man’s dogs before but he has always been friendly. All his dogs looked well-fed, well-groomed, and friendly as they came bounding out, but what that one dog did was very scary.

I’m relieved that the puppy seems fine physically and otherwise, but I am still very shaken up.

You, my friend, are weird.

I accept that he is talented. But PLEASE stop telling the child and everyone else that he will “be a major league baseball payer someday”. He is only seven years old!

The two of you are exhausting. You don’t need to recite your litany of ailments every time a new person walks into the room. You can pick up a lunch check once in a while, especially when you’re a guest in the house of a friends’ family member whom you’ve never met before. And why on earth did you think the house was their “cabin”? It’s their house! Strangers are not, generally, interested in your infant grandniece, but you could inquire about your hosts children. When asking a question of a native about the area you’re touring, please don’t supply the answers. It’s not multiple choice. You’ll get a straightforward answer if you’d stop long enough to listen.

There is a dark side to the legalization of pot.

Please stop telling my kids to apply to schools we can’t afford!!!
