West Point announced in an emergency brief to cadets last night that 75% of the class of 2019 will be branching combat arms, up 5% from the usual 70%. This increase means that roughly 50 Firsties who did not top-rank a combat arms branch when they submitted their five branch preferences at the beginning of this school year are going to be disappointed when they open that envelope later this year. We hope our son is not one of them. But, they all serve at the needs of the Army, and they all signed up for this. I didn’t.
I hope that my recommender wooed the professor at stevens for me enough to get in for phd…
OMGosh. So they hold hands. Who cares? I guess enough people do to keep reporting it
So glad you are going to fight this.
Great (sarcastic). Another “shooter” threat at school tomorrow. Attendance will be down. If Creekland doesn’t show up… I’ll have been the one (or one of those) protecting kids.
Fortunately the police call the threats baseless, but it’s super frustrating that a segment of this generation finds doing these sorts of things perfectly ok.
Young friend, the US educational system has failed you miserably. Now in your second year at a community college, your written English is so poor as to qualify as you as illiterate. I am not sure that problem can be fixed anymore. What a mess, for so many reasons.
Three moms this week informed me of how smart their child is, what a high GPA their child has.I’m so proud of myself for holding back, not saying what I was thinking! “Ok, but I don’t care at all.”
Overwhelmed.
I don’t understand how someone who is theoretically a destination expert spends more time telling others to change their plans instead of answering their questions.
Whoo hoo, Red Sox! My husband shares a name with one of the players, so I just ordered a jersey for him.
Please don’t accept someone’s opinion as fact just because they are present it as fact. Check the school’s website or contact the school directly. There are quite a few people who fancy themselves as experts who don’t even know what they don’t know.
I’ve just been informed that it’s my responsibility to chair a meeting of a regional coalition at a national conference next week (the chairmanship of the coalition rotates from state to state and it’s Maine’s turn this year). I have never been involved with this group and know nothing of what they do! I’m supposed to put together an agenda. ROFL.
This is stressing me out! Just let him know one way or the other. Wish my D would get a break too, she is trying so hard.
PSA - drinking two bottles of wine/day, not checking your blood sugar levels, and blindly giving yourself insulin is going to result in the earlier death you are fearing.
Attendance isn’t really down on our shooting threat day today. Don’t know if that’s good or not. If reason is the cause with knowing the threatmaker isn’t here and authorities are on it, that’s good. If parents and kids are getting desensitized with the new normal, it makes me pause.
I’m hoping it’s reason. I also hope folks can help the young threatmaker. There are much better things one can do in life than hope for violence.
Got to meet HImom today! The second time this week I’ve gotten together with CC friends.
I went to the doctor yesterday and was told (after paying the co-pay for both the blood draw and the follow up) that I was in excellent health, a message “they don’t get to tell many people.”
My husband was recently the first appointment for his doc (different practice) that he was incredibly healthy and all other appointments would be down hill after his.
I am very happy we are so healthy, but I think of us as pretty normal. What does this say about our population as a whole? Why is the average person not so healthy? I wish I could understand or explain. Is it the healthcare providers, the government, society and our bad habits? Should I be willing to pay 2 co-pays just to hear this news? Clearly there’s a problem, but I’m not sure what it is.
This is not looking good.
Thank you dear church treasurer. I was vacillating between leaving next August to start a residency program or waiting one more year. Your blatant passive aggressiveness in sending out a budget proposal to the entire congregation blaming me for the increase in electric costs clinched the decision for me.
So keeping the AC on in my office set to 80 to keep the crab alive for two months is the only reason? Not the fact that you demanded a dehumidifier and pump to run 24/7/365 in the candy making room and that you made an unauthorized switch in electric suppliers that doubled the cost after the promotion period? Amazing!
Yes , my friend, it is “all about the Benjamin’s” when you have 150,000 in debt and have a degree that is undergoing some significant changes in terms of job availability and potential income . It will be " all about the Benjamins" when you are trying to start a life with someone who also has that same philosophy and struggle to afford a home, transportation and food while you try to pay off that debt. You may have to put off starting a family or being a SAHM if that’s your desire. So please, before you make a dismissive remark to someone who’s trying to help someone make an INFORMED decision, do your research .
