Say it here cause you can't say it directly- the get it off your chest thread (Part 1)

I love when my daughter calls me to listen to her talk herself out of spending money foolishly.

All you folks who respond to my used car ad, asking me if the car is still available–when I immediately respond that yes, it is still available, why do you go silent? What is the point of asking me if it’s still available if you actually aren’t interested in pursuing it? And it’s not as if I take a day to respond, I respond within 10 minutes, as I’m never far from my phone! That is the definition of ghosting!

Required immunizations are just that, required. Freaking out one day before spring course registration that your kid has a “hold” because you didn’t pay attention is your own darn fault. The school sent a million “reminders” LAST spring!

A banner ad for “graveyard pumpkin shooters” inserted into the article about a pregnant woman and her unborn child killed by a drunk driver… Just shaking my head.

All these recent avatar changes is messing with me.
I get used to knowing who’s who by picture, and then you go changing on me

I miss my Aunt Dot today so very very much. The was the only one who was a true mother to me.
Sad.

The call between my recommender and my prospective PI went great! I can smell an admission letter miles away!

It’s nice you took your child to see some colleges, but no, a kid with a string of Fs in the transcript is not going to be accepted to any of the ones you chose.

To the jerk who just said very mean stuff to the nicest bus driver ever - I wish I could toss you off the bus. Hope karma gets you.

My new word of the week is “turbidity” I am so over this boil water order! I know others have it much worse, restaurants and bars that can’t sell produce because it can’t be washed, no ice for margaritas, Starbucks closed because they can’t sell coffee… people that live near the lakes and rivers that are shoveling mud and dead fish out of their houses… but I just want to fill the dog’s water bowl and brush my teeth without boiling water first!

Nicely done! It’s almost impossible to work on that faucet without bumping your head on the cabinet at least once, but it took a true professional to say “Ouch!” instead of something worse. That’s why we hired you. That and having all the right tools without having to go to the hardware store.

My friend is burying her daughter today. Senseless death

I feel so liberated after three exams, one Ph.D interview today at my alma matar and one potential admission offer…

Are you quite that rude in real life?

When are you going to STOP YELLING when you’re annoyed!?

I got a new boss coming next week. It’s always hard to know if we’ll hit it off. I keep telling myself to just keep doing my job. Can’t do anything else…

Thanks, American Airlines. Your incompetence and poor planning caused us to spend an unnecessary night in a hotel when you bumped us from our 5AM flight at 10:30 the night before. And rebooking us on a flight 12 hours later caused us to miss our entire first day of our trip to Seattle (which meant I had no opportunity to meet up with CC friends as I had hoped… we had to fit 6 days of vacation activities into 5). On our way home, both flights were delayed because-- the flight crews didn’t leave their hotel on the airport shuttle van until 10 minutes before the flights’ scheduled departures – how do you even explain that?? I will never, EVER fly American again.

I just want an on campus job so that I could buy some cool stuff! UGH!

On the positive side, I want to express my thanks to the weather gods for giving us an extraordinary week of warm and sunny weather – not typical for PNW in mid-October.

And an extra special thank you to the two very kind young men who found and turned in my daughter’s wallet, which she had left behind at Top Pot Doughnuts. Gosh, I love Seattle.

When your child starts out a late evening phone call with “something bad happened,”. Then she goes on to tell you that a window was broken in her new car and you breathe a sigh of relief and are thankful because there are so many worse things that could have happened.
