Thank you, scualum, for paying it forward to a family (mine) in need of support and comfort from someone who has stood in our shoes. We appreciate your outreach more than you know.

Thank you, snow, for waiting to come down until my son was safely in his dorm. Tears in my eyes as I realize that son will get to see snow at his college, as he had always hoped. And thank you, also, for letting us, mom and dad, get to see it. It is a rare treat for us Southerners. And thank you, Honda CR-V, for taking us safely home through the falling snow and icy roads. And thank you, God, for keeping us all safe!

Thank you, DS, for your willingness to volunteer with my woefully delayed student at my school. Thank you for not leaving when you met him and he’d wet his pants. Thank you for hunting down some dry clothes, putting his wet ones in the washer, and continuing as if nothing had happened. And a big thank you for saying later on that evening “He doesn’t seem that delayed to me…”

Okay, this is officially my go to thread when I feel like a good cry!

To my sons…You are such a delight to have at home. I have enjoyed seeing the interaction and love that you all share. There are no words that I could use to express how much I appreciate and love you. Last night was wonderful…sitting in the living room, fire going…and sharing all the memories was priceless. You have each made us so proud not because of what you have done but because of who you are. We are so blessed to have been your parents. I am going to miss having you all together but know that whereever you are, we are all together through that bond. You will never be alone even in a strange place because you are forever loved. We are so incredibly grateful for all of the wonderful memories that you have given us. God bless each of you as you move forward and take the love that you have shared and bring it wherever you go. Just don’t love too much in the UE…it is punishable by a jail sentence…lol

You are the best person I know!

To the lady who rear-ended my teen daughter this morning – thank you for being kind and upstanding and making sure she was okay and following up with all the additional information by calling our home within the hour. Thanks for being a good person and doing the right thing, and understanding that even a little bang can make a young driver upset when it’s their first “accident.” Honor and goodness are alive and well!

P.S. it took way too long to find this thread!

Thank you D for lobbying relentlessly for that new puppy. Who would have thought he would bring so much laughter and joy to our family ;-)

You’ve grown into a poised and confident young woman. A couple of years ago, that glitch would have had you in tears. Yesterday, you sailed right through it and laughed about it afterwards. I’m proud of you!

To the RA I was on-call with last night: Thank you for stepping out to call our supervisor to that tough lock-out, and for talking through it with me afterwards. I know we have our differences sometimes, but times like this make it all worth it. I am proud to share my building and residents with you. :)

Perspective: gotta love it.

2 years ago I would have fretted, agonized, wondered how to help. Now I am simply grateful that this is your biggest problem.

Thank you for being the big brother you are. :)

Thanks to all of YOU, who have helped us give S sound advice about his relocating to DC/VA. We have printed out all the materials and he has READ them and is making sounder decisions based on it!

Thanks to D for inspiring us. After being kicked to the gutter by your HS, you defied them and went on to thrive in CC & get into the U of your dreams. You continued to show unbelievable grit and after your 3rd attempt, were finally admitted into the major you had so wanted and are now dressing the set of a student film. We can’t wait to see the movie in a few months! We are so very proud of you for never letting anyone or any thing stand in the way of what you wanted. We are so proud of you for always reaching for the stars and keeping your smile. :)

S we are so proud of you for being a great S, grandson & brother. It has been so fun having you home for these months before you start your new job and getting to know the young adult you. We look forward to watching your continued growth and change.
You have been such a help in cheerfully decluttering our home and grandparents’ home. Thanks!!!

H, thanks for always supporting me in whatever schemes I hatch, even when I pull you in. You have never complained that I have never brought in nearly my earning potential and are always encouraging of me and the kids. You smilingly eat whatever is prepared and wash the dishes and clean the kitchen. I am the luckiest, happiest woman I know!

Thankyou…to everyone that has taken in relatives or friends due to foreclosure, job loss, health issues, etc.

Thankyou to all the foster parents of teenagers and sibling groups.
Special thanks, too, for all the teachers keeping up with the last minute recommendation letters.

I’m happy to see you so jazzed about this. Good luck!

Thank you for sending me flowers for International Women’s Day. It was a beautiful surprise, made more poignant because you and I know this day has resonance for other reasons. You are a fine young man and are going to make some lucky young woman VERY happy one day.

And you planned this in advance, because the flowers arrived on the correct day! EDM! EDM! EDM!

And now I’m crying again.

You crack me up. You drive me nuts. You never bore me.
