Say it here (THE FLIP SIDE)

Okay, we vent our frustrations on the “Say it here cause yo (sic) can’t say it directly- the get it off your chest thread”, but how about the flip side where we can share our happy outcomes or good news. I’ll start -

Yay! You did actually follow through. I’m so happy and you saved yourself hundreds of dollars.

to whomever posted what to have your college junior or senior do over winter break - thank you! I forwarded to my dd and instead of rolling her eyes - she took it to heart and has engaged anyone who will listen in what she would like to do after college- she is currently at an interview now. yeah for young adults who listen!! or rather - read forwards from CC!

I’m relieved you had to talk to him about his serious problem, and very grateful that I didn’t have to. I don’t think I would have had the patience that you demonstrated. Bravo!

Thanks for opening your home to us on New Year’s Eve! We enjoyed meeting your friends and getting to know y’all better. What do you know, there is life after high school!

Splashmom - I’m so glad you posted a follow up, I’ve been following your saga on the other thread! Thanks also for the new thread, I think it’s a great idea!

Through all the mess and frustration with fixing the damage, I have forgotten how blessed we are to have good insurance, good friends and the ability to laugh at the worst of it.
Plus (happy dance here) I got rid of the ugly tile that I hated for so long.

Tonight is the last night the four of us are together. M,H,S,D. No fights, just great time. Kids can grow up and be really pleasant.

Next time we will all be together will be at S’s wedding in Spain. Can’t wait!

Thanks for this thread!

Thanks for walking the dog today. even though it was only ten degrees, I suspect you both enjoyed getting out of the house.

Thank you for putting me through college. And paying for my car/health insurance, and the repairs on my car. And the clothes on my back, and the food in the fridge…etc.

Great job D for going out of your comfort zone and proactively visiting the place where you want to have your internship this summer. You know how competitive the program is, and that they have rolling admissions, so you didn’t procrastinate when it was important that you ‘beat the application rush’.

Now you can stay home this summer instead of going across the country! But you should get out of that comfort zone too in case you have to go to med school somewhere far away :)

Yay, you passed your FE exam. What a great accomplishment for a kid who didn’t take this as a college senior. You missed registration for the next exam and were scheduled to be out of town for another sitting. You finally took this exam 18 months after graduation but you passed and we are very proud!

Thanks for helping me when our business had unexpected problems with the vendor in the last few weeks. I know you are not working because you are disabled, but I’m really glad I can count on you when things melt down.

(And thank you, SplashMom, for starting this thread. You have restored balance in my karma.)

To my cat: thank you for being a nutball and making us laugh when we need it the most! Laughter truly is the best medicine.

To S2: THANK YOU!!! for texting me just now that you got a 97 on your quiz. I needed some good news today!

Wow - great idea!

To H - thanks for doing the tasks I don’t like doing!

To CC-ers - thanks for all of the great info, ideas, and support!

Don’t forget, everyone, that these are sentiments that CAN and SHOULD be said directly! I know I would certainly like to be on the receiving end of these!

Mine (and yes, I have said this directly!)…to my S&D. Thank you for getting along during winter break. I wasnt so sure at Thanksgiving that you’d make it through without someone punching someone. You make me happy.

(Also said this directly, altho in slightly different words) S1, you’ve been a joy! Good Luck on the rest of the journey!

Put him on a plane this morning for his last semester of college…an engineering major (with 2 minors) who will actually graduate in 4 years with a 3.2+ gpa. Accomplished so much while also having a blast. Already has one job offer and will pursue a couple of others. Definitely moving to San Francisco after graduation and only return to the family home for visits in the future. Seems very strange to be a family of three now…

You have grown up so much in the last semester…I am proud of you!

with everything going on, i had forgotten to set up the account as i said i would, so thank you S1 for doing it for me…and the happy tears that flowed when i asked what password you set it up with…“ilovemymom” … i know it was a little thing but i so needed it

You are so sweet, kind and funny and I am lucky to have you.

Thanks for ditching those stocks in the Brokerage account now that the losses will be useful on the 2011 taxes which will determine the 2011-12 FAFSA. Even though it was an expensive lesson, thanks for learning how not to invest our money. Your new strategies are working much better!

Oh, and what SplashMom said in #19.
