Hi. Just getting onto this thing. My son starts college on Aug 29 in Philadelphia, we did a northeast tour last summer from So. Calif. If I can give any advice on touring (though it’s late for this summer) feel free to ask.

Hi, murlocations, and welcome to CC!

Will you be accompanying your son to college, or is he going alone? Either way, it’s hard to say goodbye, but it is such an exciting time in life for the students.

I’m sure you’ll find discussions of interest here–feel free to join in!

If you have time (and money), the Jersey Shore (or any East Coast shore town/city for that matter) is not to be missed for a left coaster. You’ll find the sand and the surf much different than the Pacific Coast’s. You might find most hotels in S. Jersey sold out, but a few rooms could be had for a price.

Just meandering in Salem and Cumberland counties in NJ might be interesting enough…I love to check out Antiques stores and farmer’s markets along the way.

Closer to Philly, there’s the Lancaster County Amish Country and the Brandywine Valley (definately see Longwood Gardens).

I hope I’ve given you a few ideas. If I think of anything else, I’ll post again.
