Assuming I can get into all four, would it be better to go to the South Carolina Governor’s School or one of the precollege programs at a more prestigious college?

From what I’ve read, it looks like the college programs are not very selective, but going to the Governor’s School in South Carolina is not like going to the Governor’s School in NJ.

We can afford either, but the Governor’s School is much cheaper, so if I can get into it, should I go?

Bump. I’m sort of in the same predicament (GA Governor’s Honors Program in a business related field), but my admission to neither GA GHP nor any other summer program is definite (I applied to LEAD, TASP, Oxbridge, etc, but cost will be the ultimate decider).

degoutant, my D attended GA gov. honors last summer. If cost is the ultimate factor for you, of course going there would be a no brainer. I think in 6 weeks, my D only spent about $75, for mostly laundry and to split an occasional pizza. She was a foreign language major, but her roommate was in the same one you are going for I believe by the way your posts says “business related”. Good luck in your state interview.

thanks ga2012. if i get accepted into LEAD, I might opt for that because of the contacts that I would get with corporations and the trips, but i would no doubt spend more money for the plane trip, spending money, etc. of course its all going to depend on my acceptance into any programs, but ghp certainly does stand out because it is free, local, and longer (6 weeks compared to 3 or 4 depending on the lead school). anyway, thanks again for the input.
