I am applying to several grad schools in the UK. They all encourage applying online and they suggest uploading all supporting documents (including recs) as .jpeg files. What about confidentiality? I have my letters of recommendation and my official transcript in sealed envelopes, stamped and signed across the seal…Should I just open the envelopes and scan the documents which (at least that’s what I thought) I am not supposed to see?

Columbia allows recommendations to be sent online. I don’t think you should scan it yourself though.
