Scared about my classes...

I’m a bit scared about my classes right now because I’m not sure of the difficulty of the classes that I have signed up for/will sign up for :frowning: , so can someone please comment on the rigor of these classes? Any advice or tips for these classes would also be appreciated.

The ones I have signed up for:
Physics 7B
CS 61A

Waiting list:
Math 24 <~~~Seminar

The one I will sign up for:
Math 53

Thanks in advance!

Do lots of practice problems, look up old tests from ninjacourses and other honor societies. There are so many archived tests that you need several days to just get through it. And once you solve through them, you will see some pattern and feel the difficulty and you’ll be ready.

Your course selection implies that you are an EECS major who got 5 scores on AP calculus BC and AP physics C, or took freshman calculus and first semester physics for scientists and engineers at a college while in high school.

You probably want to self study the introductory differential equations material that is in Math 1B but not in many other high school or college calculus courses. That may be useful in Physics 7B, where differential equations can show up in electromagnetism. This may be true in other courses that list Math 1B as a prerequisite, such as EE 20N.

[Math 1B | Department of Mathematics at University of California Berkeley](Math 1B | Department of Mathematics at University of California Berkeley)

Old tests for math courses are easily findable on the math department’s web site. Old CS home pages with sample tests should also be easily findable.

Thanks Upmagic and ucbalumnus! :)

That was my first semester freshman schedule at Cal (Except instead of Math 24 I was doing a writing class and instead of Physics 7B I was doing Physics 7A but the workload is basically the same for both)

It’s definitely doable and the workload imo won’t be light or heavy, I think it’s just right in between and you’ll be fine with at least a little responsibility and planning. Good luck and welcome to Cal!
