Ok well I applied to Bradley University in January (late, I know) and my GPA at the time was 2.4 unweighted, 2.7 weighted. ACT was 31. I was accepted. MY GPA has since risen to 2.9 weighted, 2.7 unweighted. They did see my 1st semester of senior year on my transcript. I got a D in Latin and a D in pre-cacl the previous year. BUT this semester I got a D in psychology, and mostly C’s and a B in AP Calculus. Additionally I am an Illinois State Scholar, I retook the ACT and scored 33, and I have no disciplinary or criminal history whatsoever.

I know it sounds terrible but for the most part this actually an improvement…I have had a very poor home life in high school, my parents are divorced, my dad remarried at the start of my freshman year, and my mom is an alcoholic and I suspect she also abuses pills, and my sister is slightly autistic and schizophrenic and every night my mom or my sister had an episode it was a night I was too scared or stressed to finish my homework.

My admission letter said nothing about my acceptance being conditional…even so I am still quite scared because of all the horror stories I see in the news of rising star students who were nevertheless rescinded because of errors on their application documents or dips in senior year. It doesn’t help that I am slightly on the low end of the admitted spectrum at Bradley (many of the other undergrads have like 3.5-3.8 GPAs).

It doesn’t help things that I had a horrible nightmare, but it did make me think…,.basically it turned out (in the dream of course) that my acceptance had been an accident to begin with. Does that sort of thing happen? I mean I think they reviewed my grades when I changed from school of engineering to Academic Exploration Program right?

So do you think I should call the admissions office before I submit my final transcript, and maybe negotiate some kind of academic probation deal? Should I submit my transcript and wait to see if they reply with any bad news before I call anyone? Honestly I am very sure my grades will improve dramatically once I am away from my family.
