SCEA? bump? HYP?

I’m new to this site, and probably sound really stupid, but what do SCEA, bump, and HYP mean?

Thanks!

SCEA: single choice early action (a type of early application that is non-binding but only allows you to apply to one early school. Stanford and Yale use this)
HYP: Harvard, Yale, Princeton (the big three ivy Leagues, often combine with Stanford and MIT to make HYPMS)
bump: bring up my page (when one wants a thread to be pushed to the top of the page, people write this)

how would you bump someones thread?

Xargon42, it’s actually more commonly spelled HYPSM, is it not?

you bump someone’s thread simply by posting a comment on it. Say for example that a thread has not been posted for some time, so it would naturally be moved down the long list of threads by other threads that are new or have new posts. When you post a new comment in a thread, that thread is “bumped” up to the top of the list, so that more people can see it right away.
Basically, you use bump when you want that thread to get more attention
