<p>Does anyone feel like the longer you look at an essay, the worse it gets? Cuz I’m starting to feel pretty crappy about my essays, and this is after I’ve revised them like 3 times. And countless little revisions. I work on em every night, and I think that is burning me out.</p>
<p>^my sentiments exactly. the first time i read my essays i thought they were great.now, i’m not so sure. guess i’m just sick of myself.:D</p>
<p>It’s better to let a work lie (any work, not just essays) for a few days before revisiting and revising it. It gives you a more fresh perspective.</p>
<p>Hahah, the only problem being that in a few days, these essays will be due. Egads.</p>

<p>Hmm I’m having trouble understanding how long our long essay should be…Stanford says that the essay shouldn’t take more than a page but then they give us around 4,900 characters, which is a lot more than a page.</p>
<p>But at the moment my rough draft is around 4,400 char so I think that’s pretty good. Why, how far are you from 4900 pyleela?</p>

<p>You only have to keep it to a page if you’re uploading a formatted document, though. I think you’re fine, julyinoh, if you’ve just copied and pasted your essay.</p>

<p>Haha… I think mine is like 20 characters under. I think you’ll be fine if it’s over a page: view the .pdf file and it should fit no problem. I think that’s how the adcom looks at your application anyway… so just stick under the limit. </p>

<p>Has anyone tried pasting their essays in? Cuz all my “-” and " ’ " (apostrophes) turn to wierd TM symbols and stuff. And not only that, but has someone else noticed it cuts words off even if you’re not at 1600 yet? Argh…</p>
