Argh this is so ■■■■■■■■. How I am I supposed to write an essay without using 's? Sigh…

EDIT: I found a way around it. Has anyone figured out how to get the first paragraph to keep it’s five spaces?

I noticed the cut of point myself. I think it goes by the number of lines you have rather than characters. As for me, I’m done and submitted! 3 short essays all fit the box exactly, long one’s around 3200 characters, but I felt happy with it.
So now it’s the long wait… :)

wow guys I’m totally jealous…but it’s my fault for not being ahead of things =P can’t wait to feel the exhilaration after pressing “Submit” …I’m already excited!!

It definitely say that no more than one page for the long essay: http://www.stanford.edu/dept/uga/applying/1_2e2_essay.html

so, for all of you who have submitted. any of you submitted close to the limit and made it through?
because my long essay right now is exactly 4900, I can delete a sentence or two, but does it really count by lines instead of characters? and what about the short Essays?
Also, is it really true that I can’t use dash and ’
what about italicize? i italicized some words on my long essay?
please help, thanks

I have too just submitted my apps. Indeed a liberating experience, not to mention everything was done at the eleventh hour haha.

edwinksl, you scared me for a sec when you wrote “the eleventh hours”,
i thought, for a moment, that today is Nov 1st already. lol
I had to check the calendar to make sure I’m just imagining.

Haha, sorry man. I mean, the majority of applicants must have finished their apps by now. Hmm, no worries for those who haven’t done so, you still have time. :D

2011ers add your names to the wiki… we only have 12 so far compared to 67 last year and 120 the year before that. get off your arses.:D

EDIT: Forgot the URL:http://www.hypothetic.org/ccstanford/?pagename=Main.SCEARoster

Why doesn’t html work???

^ I second fuzzylogic!!! :)

Hmm, I can’t put in a lot of info because I am an international student and my school doesn’t follow the gpa system nor rank students.

is the due time at midnight Nov 1 or midnight oct 31?
cause i think i’ll need every second i got

quickflood, and for that matter anyone that is interested: My essay was about 4870, and it fit, so 4900 should fit too. As for “-” and " ’ " you will have to retype them in the online application box. Like, after you copy/paste into the box, go back and change those characters, because the website will format the msword -/’ into wierd TM symbols and stuff.

Just sent off Form 3, Form 5, Form 6, transcripts, and the SCEA agreement. Is there anything I’m missing? (My teacher’s out sick so Form 4 might not be here for a bit…)

Hey guys, I am feeling troubled by something…

The person who wrote my optional recommendation sent me a copy, and while it is absolutely glowing, she made a couple of factual errors, such as saying I was on the JV soccer team when in fact I have been on Varsity, and getting the name of my soccer club wrong. This bothers me a lot because there is a huge difference between the two. Thankfully, her essay is not focused on me playing soccer, but rather on me volunteering at an organization. However, there will be a discrepancy between what she wrote and what I write down in my extracurriculars… are the people reading this at Stanford going to arch an eyebrow and go… huh?

edit: we cant say c0ck an eyebrow? huh… funny.

Soccersuzie- That may be a question for your counselor-she might jsut be able to send a revised letter with a cover letter explaining the discrepancies in time, although this is cutting it close

to anyone else- I jsut finished too, yeay. My stats are pretty good and everything, but then again, its stanford. was wondering if anyone knows the actual alumni policy (i.e. does it constitute a “second look” if they reject you, or does it not matter at all, or is it an appreciable advantage, etc)

konda, I’m not sure…but I do know at our school last year, of the people who applied early (there were close to 80–4 were accepted) only 2 people were deferred and those two were legacy. and their stats were worse than most of the people who were rejected, so I’m guessing it does have some weight

interesting. thanks, jsut got tot hinking after looking over it that my dad might have an efect, i hadnt thought about it till now.

Trust me buddy… having alumni is never a bad thing. Just don’t use it as a crutch.

whoo… I’m kinda scared about that app now

I seriously have to stop thinking about it. Ah well.

wait…where do i find the SCEA agreement and what was i supposed to have sent it with???
