No, everyone gets decisions at the same time, sucks doesn’t it?

aww… :(

Less than four more weeks though!!! :D

man I totally just spent way too much time going back into CC and looking for last year’s Stanford SCEA threads… it was kind of interesting until I realized what a psychotic nerd I am.

Anybody else who’s going to wait for the mailbox-opening experience? I’m totally not checking my decision online 'cause I feel like it’s suicide.

“man I totally just spent way too much time going back into CC and looking for last year’s Stanford SCEA threads… it was kind of interesting until I realized what a psychotic nerd I am.”

I did that too. I was trying to prepare myself for rejection.

“Anybody else who’s going to wait for the mailbox-opening experience? I’m totally not checking my decision online 'cause I feel like it’s suicide.”

I want to wait until the mail comes, but I don’t know if I have the will power. I think that the mail acceptance/rejection experience is a lot more interesting than just seeing a simple “accepted” or “rejected” online.

The only thing with waiting until the mail comes is that I’m pretty sure they email you a decision too. However, I’m not sure if they reveal the decision in the subject line (i.e Congratulations!) , because if they don’t, it’s a simple matter of not opening the email.

Haha. I remember getting a big huge envelope that said “congratulations!” on it from the u of mn. big surprise there. Didn’t even have to open it. Funny if stanford would send me a small, thin envelope with big red letters printed on it: “We regret to inform you.”

lol. it sucks when your parents convince you that you’ll never get into the college of your dreams.

Hmm I think it sucks more when your parents convince (try to, anyway) you that you’ll get into most of the colleges you’re applying to.

I disagree. I do get a lot of people who say that I’ll get in, and most of the time I just disagree with a modest “nah.” But when my parents constantly rub it into me that my sat’s aren’t good enough, I didn’t spend enough time on my essays, and my grades are dismal, I just don’t know what to say. Need to punch something.

Funny, huh? 90something-eth percentile scores and still too low… do our current standards for statistical analysis even matter?

Trust me, it sucks more when people have high expectations of you. Then you start believing what they say and telling your friends that you will probably get in…then, if you get rejected, it’s really humiliating. But if people expect you to fail, if you do, it’s not humiliating, and if you dont (which is more likely) then you will have the satisfaction of having proved everyone wrong

it sucks

I understand that. My parents are the only ones who think I’ll fail. Everyone else thinks otherwise. Odd. I don’t know who to believe anymore. Which is why I’m just gonna sit in limbo for four more terrifying weeks. Then there’ll be the satisfaction of knowing.

That just made my day, devaaki. :] Didn’t Stanford sent out acceptance letters last year with “Congratulations” on the front of the envelope? I could’ve sworn someone said that.

They send you a big envelope with “Congratulations” written on it. There’s a picture of it somewhere in the older posts (I’m thinking in the 2010 boards).

I agree with Joannerz. I have yet to hear one person who has said I won’t get in. In fact, people go overboard and say “Oh, you’ll definitely get in.” This will make a rejection harder (if there is one–hopefully not). Because of these reactions from teachers, a couple friends (the ones who know), counselors, etc., I haven’t even THOUGHT about a rejection. I think I’ll just play it by ear once the actual decisions come out. I’m planning for an acceptance…just not a rejection…bad idea…

^Hahahaha…really confusing post. They’re just the thoughts that have been in my brain for months now…

Again, I’m trespassing, but I just wanted to say, I feel EXACTLY like pyleela…everyone is expressing confidence in me, including myself…but now I’m getting worried that if I don’t get accepted early, it will make me look like a poser

When people ask where I applied early, I always respond, “Stanford, but I probably won’t get in,” to avoid setting expectations for myself and others that I only have a ~17% chance of fulfilling.

Sometimes I really think I can get in, and sometimes I just think I’m crazy. And what with the 239487293847 other people applying to Stanford (I’m sure a good number of the 14 valedictorians, along with a lot of other people, in '07 are applying), I’m kind of scared that my Stanford-obsession will be just absolutely humiliating if I get rejected.

But my parents have been kind of condescending in the past… now they’re kind of optimistic. And my friends have been encouraging. So I’m neutral right now, strangely calm. We’ll see what happens to me when December comes…

^ I completely agree w/ your first sentence antithesis!!!

I thought I was going crazy, but it’s nice knowing other people are feeling the same as I am…

My parents aren’t saying whether I’m going to get in or not…they’re supportive, of course, but they’re the same way I am. They get freaked out for me when I’m freaked out; they’re happy when I feel confident. And then they get freaked out when I’m too obsessed with getting in…Just like normal parents, I guess. :D

My parents don’t really care… they don’t live with me anyhow…

On the other hand, all my friends think I’ll DEFINITELY get in, and come Dec. 15th I will be so embarrassed… sigh… Sometimes everyone is optimistic and I let myself hope, but there’s still that 80% rejection rate hanging above my head…

Okay, when you put it as “80% rejection rate” as opposed to “20% acceptance rate” or whatever, it sounds really bad. ): So let’s keep it positive, guys, hahah.

Keep your heads up! As long as you have tried, you shouldn’t regret regardless of the outcome.

Does this thread freak anyone else out? sigh Some people really scare me with their close-mindedness…
