SCEA - Class of 2011

Yeah, let’s keep it up, guys!

I hate “Why do you want to go to XYZ College” essays. 'Cause I want to, that’s why! Now accept me.

I’m not liking the “sig’n issue” topic.

pace – pacers. chuckle.

:P soo tired.

what’s “sig’n issue”?

significant issue. too lazy to type.

lol wow the growth of this thread is amazing. lets find the derivative of it lol. i am so glad i am finished with apps. what a relief. its just scholarship essays. and those essays are worse than the college essays where they ask you “why do you want to come to XYZ college.”

or yale’s “what in particular influenced you to apply to yale”

with their wording, you could respond with “I was influenced to apply to yale because i want to go to yale.”

derivatie of 1047 is 0. that was fast.

well if you want to find the derivative of the growth, not the number of posts, you would have to first find a function to describe the rate of the posts…

lol i was just joking… btw, how many have already been accepted to other colleges? how many colleges?

i’ve only applied to two other colleges so far - umich and berkeley. i just submitted my berkeley app like ten minutes ago. as for u of m, i was accepted. my parents reallllly want me to go to u of m. they don’t see any point in paying like 4 times the cost to go to stanford, and its fairly close to home. i won’t bother trying to convince them about stanford until i actually have the choice of attending.

Well, if Stanford mets your demonstrated financial need, you probably should go to Stanford!

the thing is, i don’t have a demonstrated financial need (two doctors as parents). i think they just use that as an excuse to keep me near to home. but in 2 years, my family will have 3 undergrads and 1 med student…so maybe we’ll have a demonstrated need then. if i didn’t check the box for that on the app, could i still apply for aid?

Good question. I think probably not. Call them up and ask?

i love calling stanford (not that i do it often…i guess i liked it all one times that i did it) i called them at 8 pm my time and they were still open.

nvm, you live in singapore…i think you know all too well about the time change thing…

Haha yeah. I suggest you call them asap to see if you can submit fin aid documents.

6-10 inches of snow by tomorrow=good chance of snow day=more time to work on apps

okay can someone tell me if they favor certain schools. b/c for the past 4 years NO ONE from my school has been accepted to an ivy/stanford/mit not even the valedictorians, so i am kind of worried. :S

You are going to buck that trend, Magerie.

nope, i heard they don’t. and even if they hate a school, i am sure they won’t reject person A if he/she has a stellar app.
