SCEA - Class of 2011

lol really? how do you know we’ll be getting in on the 13th?

I called Stanford to find out for myself, and they have recording that says something like:

“If you are a single-choice early action applicant, we plan to release our decisions online Friday, December 15th. Two days prior, you should receive an email instructing you how to check your decision online. Paper decisions will be mailed to all SCEA applicants also on December 15th.”

I originally thought my chances were terrible because one of my teacher recs was so bad. He spent zero effort on it, and put “fairly strongly” instead of enthusiastically. I recently got an email from the Stanford Dance Director about the tape I sent, and he said that if the committee listens to him, I’ll be going to Stanford. Anyone know how much pull department heads have with the committee? Should I take this with a grain of salt?

i would say you are in! Congratulations!!! ^^^^^

realitysucks - did you apply to Stanford’s dance program? or another major of study, and dance would be only your EC?

an even better question might be why do previous posts made by realitysucks describe him as a chinese male with no mention of dance whatsoever, just political/mathy/ping pong stuff…

takeme2cali - nope, just wanted to showcase another part of my app, I like to dance for fun (breakdance), and the director really liked it
dagger345 - yep, you’re right, political/mathy/pingpong would be me. but another part is dancing, and other stuff. i’m not an asian nerd who studies calculus in third grade  i’m actually socially acceptable

“If the admissions office listens to me you’ll be coming to Stanford”

see, i’m afraid that the directors don’t have much pull, so i’ll probably be sorely dissapointed on the 15th.

ah, breakdancing. i thought this was some serious ballet stuff and wondered why you would never bother to mention it anytime before this. in that case, that is sufficiently awesome, congrats!

thanks dude, best of luck to you too!

crapped up unedited version of it. kinda sucks towards the middle :frowning: he liked it though

actualy…the whole thing sucked, i lied

^^^ Actually that was pretty d*mn cool. Thanks for posting it…a great way to break up the monotony of spending too much time staring at regular CC posts.

hahaha i agree. can you do those crazy things where you spin on the floor and do the worm or whatever? (clearly i am break-dance-■■■■■■■■, among other things)

i didn’t send my art portfolio in b/c on the supplemental form they say they expect applicants to have significant recognition at the state, national, and international level and i don’t. (im sending it everywhere else i apply) do you think i should anyways if i get deferred?

I was thinking of sending in my digdesign/advert portfolio but saw that too and decided not to… def. will if I get deferred!

I sent in Indian classical singing…even though there’s not much opportunity for 16/17-year-olds to have any recognition in it. I’m working on it though! :)

hmm, does anybody know how Stanford mails out their letters? Columbia uses DHL or something, and a bunch of people just called and asked if they had a package coming…

realitysucks, we’re going to have to party together if we both get into stanford

haha sunny that’s random, yeah surei 'll come. you dance too?
