white female from tiny rural hs in vermont.

academic interests: international relations, comparative culture/society/lit/language/politics/relgions/history etc.

what i’ll do if i get in: smile

my hook: i don’t really have one. i’m passionate about writing, hopefully that shows through in my app (which i just barely submitted, ay ay ay)

why i want to go to Yale: i loved it when i visited. it was the only college where every other person was wearing a sweatshirt with the school’s logo, where people would shout out what they love about Yale as the tour walked by. the campus was not my favorite, although it was nice, but i imagine the incredible people more than make up for the location.

where i’d like to study abroad: EVERYWHERE. i’ll list a few cities: jerusalem, prague, budapest, rome, venice, madrid, barcelona, paris, london, amsterdam, copenhagen, istanbul, moscow, buenos aires, mexico city, lima, tokyo, cairo, casablanca, accra, johannesburg, sydney, calcutta, dharamsala, lhasa, kathmandu, timbuktu, ah i could go on forever…

expected response to above: well, my parents have already agreed to let me spend next semester in rome (provided i pay for half, so i’ve been saving!), so i can’t imagine they’d put up too much of a protest.

fears about yale: i want to live in a city. new haven doesn’t count. but new york is nearby, so it’s close enough.
