Schedule Changes After Being Admitted (Transfer Students)

I am a transfer student and I was admitted on Wednesday. In March I dropped some classes that I said I would take on my application. I have a TAG, so I called my TAG rep and asked her if it was okay to drop the classes I wanted to drop, specifically a physics class. I am a computer science major and she told me that physics is never required for my major. Since I was so behind in my classes, I decided to drop my physics class and focus on the classes required for my major (and on another class not required for my major, but that I could not drop because it ended early). I did the transfer academic update on March 2nd to report my changes, but apparently they did not receive my update as the page that lists my coursework lists the classes I originally put on the transfer academic update.

Anyway, when I received my admission and noticed that these classes were listed, I freaked out. I filled out the form on myadmissions that lets you report changes on the day I received my admissions, but I worry that they will revoke my admissions because although the TAG rep told me that “science is never required” for computer science majors, Physics is listed on assist.org and I dropped kind of a lot of classes. Along with Physics, I dropped two other classes: a political science and a P.E. class (I originally enrolled in six classes – five were academic, and one was P.E.). In my explanation, I described why I decided to drop those classes, but I did not say “how I would make them up”, because none of them are “required” for my major. However, after sitting on all of this for a few days, I am starting to worry that I should have provided a more elaborate explanation for my physics class and told them that I planned on taking it at Davis during the summer session or during Fall. Is there anyway I can edit my explanation, and add this, or should I not bother? I’m really worried because Davis is my first choice.

I was also accepted, but dropped a PE class I didn’t need because it didn’t fulfill my graduation requirements. If anyone can help us, please chime in.

I’m facing the same problem as you as well.

By the way, amsstory, on the report changes form on myadmissions, does it show you a whole list of classes you planned to take? I used to have all these classes planned for summer, but then I changed my summer schedule (luckily before the transfer academic update passed) and so while my UC application only lists 3 classes as planned for summer, the report changes form on myadmission showed a bunch of classes I originally planned to take before I found out that they weren’t offered during summer session at my community college (such as East Asian history, Asian Religions, etc).

Yep, it shows a whole list of classes I planned on taking. My UC application lists all the changes I made, but the myadmissions website does not have any of the changes I made. I called the admissions office, and they had some of the changes I made but still not all. I’m not really sure what is going on…I get the impression that they made some decisions much earlier than others (and way before they released the first batch), so if I did the transfer update after they made the decision they would not have noticed. That’s just at theory though…

This is really stressful. I feel like I have never been officially accepted and I am eagerly waiting for an acceptance or rejection all over again, lol. sigh I suppose this is my fault. I was really tempted to lie on the comments section and say something like I a family member died and I was devastated or something like that, but I told the truth. I worry that telling the truth in this case might be bad for me!

@sweetlacecharm – when you submitted the report changes form, did it say that they would get back to you in 7 to 10 days if it affects your admission? Does this mean that they will only send you an email within 7-10 days ONLY if your admission is affected, and if you do not hear back that you can take it to mean that your admission status has not changed? Also, do you know if the 7-10 days includes weekends, or if it is just weekdays? I’m trying to get a picture of when I should start expecting a response, and when I should chill out if I do not get a response. heh.

I remember it mentioning that they’ll get back to me in 7-10 days, but I don’t know about the whole admissions being affected. But what do you mean by “your admission status” has not changed?

Meaning that if you don’t hear back in 7-10 days that it means that you are admission was not revoked. I’m going to call tomorrow and ask one of the reps to give me a more precise description of how this works. I will report back when I get the info!

Called them and they said, “You will hear back in 7-10 days.” They also said that I will definitely hear back if “there is an issue” and I might hear back if everything is okay.

I forgot when was the last time I submitted my report.

If you attempt to report changes in your coursework again, it should take you to a page that says something like:

"Your most recent application update submission of April 20, 2011 is being processed. You will be able to update your college and coursework information again once this submission has been processed by our office.

Please check back later."

You can find out when you submitted your report that way.

I heard back today! They sent me an email telling me that everything is okay! YAY! Now its time to register for orientation and to SIR!

BTW – I actually could register for orientation without SIRing.

yeah, I got that message. I think it’s been 7 days now, but I haven’t heard anything from them. Maybe that’s a good sign or something? o.o

ok, got a message back from them:

One thing they got wrong is that they thought I dropped Fr. 1A, which I didn’t. And I’m taking Math 10 instead of Math 8.

Did you call them and tell them about Fr. 1A class and the Math 10 class? How did it turn out?

I emailed them back. I didn’t mention Math 10 because it’s already outlined on my UC application, but I did tell them that I didn’t drop Fr. 1A and that I got a NP grade in it. This is the message I got back:

I reported a change as well of dropping a class and it’s been about 10 days. Is that a good or bad sign?

It * might * be a good sign. Try updating your coursework again. Does it take you to a message that says they are still processing your update? If so, then they are still processing it and you will need to wait longer. If not, if it shows a list of your coursework with the updates included, then I think you’re fine.

However, if you are worried, you should call. I called 7 days after I submitted to ask more questions about the process, and the lady I spoke to was really helpful. She had the people who looked at my updates send me a message telling me everything was okay. I received the message within a few minutes of getting off of the phone with her.

Yeah it still says that on there. I’ll give them a call and see what’s going on. Thanks.
