Hi!
I’m interesting in applying for Haas, but also attempting to get a simultaneous degree in Environmental Economics. Is it possible? If so, I’m confused on what kind of courses I should take next year because it would be a simultaneous degree. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

[Environmental Economics and Policy](Environmental Economics and Policy | UC Berkeley Rausser College of Natural Resources) description, including major requirements.

Most of EEP’s prerequisites can be fulfilled by taking Haas lower division prerequisites (EEP requires Economics 1 or EEP 1, Math through at least 1B or 16B, Statistics 20 or 21). However, EEP also has an intermediate microeconomics course, EEP 100 or Economics 100A or 101A, as a prerequisite. Haas does let you [substitute Economics 100A or 101A for UGBA 101A/url, though it would not count toward the minimum number of UGBA units.

But you’ll still need to count courses and units carefully to be able to stuff the simultaneous degrees together when one of them is UGBA. This includes careful management of breadth requirements, which are somewhat more restrictive for UGBA than for L&S or Natural Resources.

There is an EEP minor](<a href=“Courses - Undergraduate Program - Berkeley Haas”>Courses - Undergraduate Program - Berkeley Haas) which may be easier to stuff into your schedule.

As far as what to take, consider four of the following:

Reading and Composition, if needed (4 on AP English fulfills first half, 5 on AP English Literature fulfills both)

Economics 1

Math, depending on your AP credit<a href=“note:%20%20%5Burl=Application Process - Undergraduate Program - Berkeley Haas”>/url

One or more breadth courses; check Haas, L&S, and Natural Resources breadth requirements, and perhaps fulfill the American Cultures with one of them as well. ESPM 50AC (suggested for EEP freshmen) is an American Cultures course and can also fulfill Historical Studies, Philosophy and Values, or Social and Behavioral Science.
