That schedule looks great. I also paired Spanish 101 with Writing 20 first semester, and I DO remember kicking myself for picking two “writing-intensive” classes during my 1st semester, but after living through the hell that was my 2nd semester (pairing Math and Econ, big mistake for me), I look back and in retrospect don’t find the Spanish-Writing matchup all that bad. It WILL be a lot of writing, but if you enjoy writing, it won’t be that bad. I mean, you also have the Theater Studies class (which I see is X-Listed with English), but you have Psych 99 to balance the writing out - that class will mostly be midterms and a final, although the Psych 90-classes usually have one "big"ish paper that is graded pretty easily (at least, both of the ones that I took did).

The underappreciated thing about writing-intensive classes, however, is the ability that you’ll have to finish things at your own pace. If you have the self-discipline to get an early start on your final papers (which will probably run anywhere between 10 and 20 pages), you can have a much easier finals week. For Writing 20, you’ll probably have a 14-16 page final paper or something like that, and for Spanish 101 expect 8-10…for Theater Studies, I don’t know what you should expect, but I’d guess that it could range anywhere from a 5-7 page paper to a 10-12 page one (I don’t know how intense that class really is). The good news is, I’ve heard that Psy 99 is sort of easy (not necessarily a class you can blow off, but one that won’t consume all of your time), so you can put a lot of effort into writing good pieces for your other classes and only study a lot for Psych before what I can only guess will be 2-3 midterms and a final (maybe ONE term paper). So yeah, long story short - it WILL be a lot of writing, which may seem incredibly daunting when you face a finals week with a combined 30 or so pages worth of papers to write, but you will also probably be grateful for that when your friends are cramming for huge tests and you aren’t.
