What do you guys think is a more practical schedule for next semester: molecular biology and organic chemistry, or organic chemistry and physical chemistry? I’ve asked two advisers and they gave me different feedback. Either way, I’m going to have a terrible schedule; I just want to know which is the less painful.

When comparing semester-in-hell schedules, pick the courses that you would like the most. The more you enjoy the courses and content, the more likely you are to be willing to invest the time necessary (and less likely to procrastinate/complain/etc)

Alternatively you could try picking based on professor. But that’s not always easy.

Suppose you didn’t have to take any of those courses. Which one would you most like to take anyways as a free elective, regardless?

Well, I’d have to take those courses eventually, and if I didn’t have to take any of those courses, I wouldn’t, not because I’m not interested in them (I am) but because I know they’re difficult classes that would probably screw up my GPA if I didn’t put in 20 hours of studying a week. For example, I haven’t heard of anyone who decided to take Advanced Biochemistry “just for fun.”

I think I’ll take Mobio.

lol, well, what I mean is suppose the requirement was “pick one of the following: mol bio, ochem, pchem, etc”, in that case, which would you take of those three by themselves.

eh, I think I’ll do mobio. analytical chem (I accidentally mixed that up with pchem) has 2 four hour labs a week.
