Scholars Life Sciences Help!

I know Life Sciences is very competitive, but I’m applying with that as my first choice. So how competitive is it really? My “hook” for the Interest Inventory short answer questions is that my group won first prize for a robotic bicep model we built at a college science fair, but I don’t know if that’s enough to get me into the program. I guess my real question is: what are they looking for in an applicant? They say that a lot of people do programs outside of their major so I didn’t really think they would fault someone for not loading up on science classes and activities in high school if they are a business major. Any input is appreciated!

I think it depends on every applicant pool. In my son’s year, there def were some that wanted sts (also a competitive program) and did not get in, but who’s to say what each year brings? So, hopefully, if you expressed your passion, that will shine through and that will be enough to earn you a spot in LS. This may be the year that more people are interested in environment or SDU, you never know. But honestly, not to worry. If you don’t get what you want, you can always ask to switch. Sometimes people switch programs so openings do become available.
