I applied for the Conway Proetz scholarship – it’s one full ride and some partial tuition scholarships for art students.

Does anyone know when I’ll hear back about this? Will I hear before standard April 1st?

I assume then if I get an interview for that that I’m set at least for admission?

Anyone know anything about this scholarship?

Well so much for anyone answering anything on this question, it doesn’t matter anymore. GOT MY SCHOLARSHIP REJECTION LETTER TODAY!!! yes. quite exciting.

anyway, it’s not over til I get the real rejection letter. sigh.

oh, that is so sad. i am sorry. i will probably feel the same way in a month. i didnt apply for any scholarships, i was just lazy and i certainly need the money. oh well. maybe you wont be rejected. I think when i was reading through the scholarship stuff, it said that the apps for admission and the apps for the scholarships are reviewed independently.

i applied for the conway proetz as well, but haven’t heard either way… i dont think washu has my midyear grades yet, is this whats holding up the decision?

Maybe that’s good that you haven’t heard yet–who knows. Yeah, really all it means is I’m not one of the six people that are for sure in. But wow it would have been nice to go to WashU for free. Oh well, we’ll see April 1st.

letter came today, didn’t get it. oh well :-/

ah, that sucks I’m sorry, least I can say is I know how it feels, right?

yeah. IM me sometime

I just got 5 rejection letters in the mail today - 4 for scholarships, one for the university scholars program. Needless to say, all the hard work and stress I put into those applications seems to have been worthless.

However, I did get a “Dean’s Honorary Scholarship.” Is this thing any good, or is it just a minimal amount of appeasement money? Does anybody know?

I am sorry. I think these scholarship things are really really competitive, so dont feel bad. They seemed so competitive that i didnt even apply. Hmpfff.

yeah i got 2 letters of rejection in the mail for the moog and ervin…looks like i wasted my time filling out their apps =(

I got 2!

The Moog one was rather amusing. paraphrase “We know that you are dissappointed” since it was such a blunt way of comfort.

But I think becoming a finalist for the scholarships is pretty hard. Like for the Moog one, it was 36 people out of 2000+ some.

Have hope, ya’ll. My daughter applied last year and didn’t get the “big” scholarship she applied for (can’t remember what it was called). She was, however, offered the Nemerov plus 1/2 tuition per year. She ended up going elsewhere, but she really liked WashU and all was not lost because she didn’t get the full-tuition offer there.

sillystring7, did your daughter win her scholarships based purely on merit, or was there any financial need factor involved there?

Purely on merit. We did not qualify for need-based aid at any college. Hope that helps!

Well i guess all we can do is wait and hope for a big scholarship.

On other forums, there have been big discussions about how “bargaining” (arguing/compromising) with the admissions office can help you get a little bit more scholarship. Do you know if it’s possible to compromise with admissions at Washu?
