scholarship apps worthwhile?

I already sent in my application for WashU and the University Scholars Program. It is in my top three, if not my number one choice right now, but it’s a sizeable reach for me, so I doubt the scholarships are at all attainable. I also promised all of my teachers that they wouldn’t have to send in any more recommendations. However, the more time I spend on CC, the more I feel like I should have applied for scholarships just for the sake of showing interest. So here’s my question: would it be worth it to ask for more recommendations to apply for the scholarships, or is the benefit of showing a little more interest not that great?

I was actually in that same situation. One of the teachers that I already asked recommendations from didn’t mail it in yet, so I asked him to go ahead and photocopy the letter and fill out the form, he didn’t mind it at all because it took him a few minutes. From what I have heard, it’s a good way to show interest, and even if you can’t get any more recommendations, you can still apply for the Rodriguez one (doesn’t require any).
