I’m about to enter my junior year in high school. i have a 4.0 GPA (unweighted) as I wasn’t able to take any honors level courses my freshman and sophomore years since I only entered the school in 9th grade (was homeschooled till high school). I did take one AP class in 10th grade and received a 5 on the AP. Next year, I will be taking 4 AP classes and one honors class. At the moment, my SAT score is around 2000 - I am in the middle of an full summer SAT “bootcamp” course and will likely take the exam in October. As for extracurriculars, my main out-of-school activity is the piano; I spend a minimum of 15 hours each week practicing. I’ve won several competitions which gave me the opportunity to perform in a concert at Carnegie Hall. I also volunteer at a hospital 3 hours per week and teach Chinese at a Chinese school 3 hours each week. I am on the board of my church’s youth fellowship, and I play piano for the formal worship service once a month. My freshman year, I swam and ran on varsity teams and made counties for swimming; however, I put down sports last year to concentrate on piano. Does not having sports negatively impact my resume by large measures? I’m not at all aiming for anything close to an Ivy League; in fact, I would prefer a significant scholarship to a school such as Stonybrook University or Hofstra University so as not to place financial burden on my parents. What are my chances of achieving this? Is there anything I can do to increase my chances? Thank you!
