I am a HS senior applying to a scholarship that says it requires me to be pursuing a certain degree.
If I win the scholarship, how does the scholarship provider know I’ll be pursuing that degree?
I could just lie in my application and say I will pursue that degree…
Then the scholarship will be revoked. You would need to provide documentation from the college that you are in that degree program. They could possibly sue you for fraud.
@EragonArya Doesn’t it require that you already be accepted to a University with that major? Also FYI sometimes these scholarships reduce your need based aid if you have that.
You will most likely have to submit your official transcrpt with grades to prove that you are taking courses leading to the degree in order for them to continue paying. If you change the major, they may require you to repay the monies
In addition most schools have some form of an honor code. If the scholarship sponsor contacts the school to let them know that the school was complicit in helping you fraudulently received scholarship funds I am sure the school will kick you out or rescind your degree leaving you with a worthless piece of paper.
