I got this in an e-mail this morning…

it isnt from osu.edu…it’s from a gmail account. is this a legit scholarship application offer or whatever or is it a scam?

u pitt alumnae do the same thing for students planning on going there who are from their state-you are probably a resident of md

lol i am a resident of md…so i guess ill email her back then? altho she did say fall semester 2011 and osu is on quarters. which makes me feel like its a scam and they just want my personal info. ill have my dad look at it.

I am from Owings Mills, MD and I didn’t receive this?!?! Whattttt

Many of the local alumni clubs of Ohio State try to help out their local freshman by offering scholarships. the local club reviews the applications and selects the winners. They also administer the scholarship. It is a nice way of getting money for books or travel or other expenses. Email addresses are given to the local club by admissions for admitted students. The local club in are our area also had an event for the students that would be freshman in the fall. It is very nice of the local clubs to help out their regional students.

The email you received is similar to one my Ds received last year. I do not think it is a scam. Go and google alumnni club of OSU for your area and I bet you will find their website.
