Scholarship Money Question (deduct?)

So I got into college and because it was full grant no loan it met all my need. This means all my tuition is paid for and all I have to pay for is my room and board, which is $12,000.

If I get scholarship money, like from Bank of America, can I put that money toward the room and board? Do I have to alert the school about the scholarship ($4,000 a year)?

My mom said her coworker whose child goes to BC said that if the school finds out it will deduct the scholarship and not let you directly put it toward the rest of the money you have to pay.

THank you!

You MUST tell the school about your scholarship. If all of your need was met this scholarship will probably cut into the funding supplied for your need. I believe it will first go against loans and then work study.
