Hello there! Need a little help here.
I am an international student from China. I intend to study TESOL and hopefully, become a teacher or translator in the future. Currently, I have received offers from umm, uiuc, ufl, umami, uwashington, uga, penn state, and ucsb.
At first, I planned to go to umm because it has always been my top choice and has a great education program. However, I am not so certain now when UGA suddenly notified me that I have received a scholarship that worth 36000 usd (4 years). The only requirement for this scholarship is to maintain a 3.0 GPA, which I figure shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.
Furthermore, I have studied in a Georgia school from 5th grade to 9th grade. So I know a some of people who would be attending there and know the surroundings of Athens pretty well. While in Wisconsin, it would be like to start to new life (in a freezing way… probably)
Lastly, my parents told me that if I go to UGA, my budget would be enough to support me to graduate school. But if I go to Wisconsin, with a risk of not receiving a scholarship due to the competitions, I would have to work my own way up to the graduate school.
So now, could you please give me some advises on how to choose between these two schools? Thank you so much for your time!
