Hello
I would like the input of CCers on the subject of deciding where to go. Should I go for the 22K renewable scholarship to case western or attend Tufts without any merit awards? Tufts obviously does not give merit scholarships…THanks.

Depends on you and your family and your financial capabilities. If going to Tufts will cause debt for you, you might want to reconsider if you are planning to go on to grad school.

Case Western. There is no way that a Tufts degree is worth $90,000 more in the real world.

CWRU gets my vote provided you actually like the school and wouldn’t be doing just because of the scholarship. If it offers what you want, take the money, get good grades, and use the savings for grad school.

I agree with FLVADAD. But keep in mind you are posting in the Financial Aid forum. You might get a different answer in a different forum. Ultimately, if you like CW then go there - save the $.

We’re in the same boat. University of Miami Florida lots of money , would cost us 16500 at UM or Georgetown. He will be going to Grad school also, money is an issue. Honors program at UM. Any comments? Thanks

i’m going to med school…so I guess that means lots and lots of money. I just need to visit and check out which school has better program in chem or bio.

if you’re thinking about med school or even graduate school… save the money for that. Plus, you’ll probably have a high grade point at Case Western so you’ll be more competitive when you’re applying to med school

Think about how much money you (or your parents) would have to earn BEFORE taxes to end up with $22,000 per year after taxes to pay a tuition bill. That scholarship is in fact worth more than $22,000 to working people. Unless you have a trust fund and it doesn’t matter.

In addition, Case is an impressive school, well known in medical circles, and a very good place to prepare for Med school.
