Scholarship Searching and Time Management

With so many scholarship web sites, and so many potential scholarships to apply for, how do you decide where to invest your time? What strategies will have the biggest payoff in terms of time invested?

Your best bet for applying for scholarships is to ask your GC about local scholarships. My daughter had a wonderful 4-year scholarship from the grocery store where I moonlighted to help pay her tuition. She also had a grant from a community foundation that was renewable every year, and another from a scholarship foundation through a local church (also renewable).

She is pretty much the exception, however. Most scholarships (local or through the internet) are for one year only.

If you search this forum, you will find your question has been asked and answered. The basic answer is the best scholarships come from the colleges themselves, your high school guidance counselor and/or local resources can direct you to local organizations that offer scholarships, and those web sites that list thousands of scholarships are hardly worth the effort (but actually do award scholarships).
