Has there been a thread on colleges and universities that offer scholarships (separate apps are okay) for students with strong leadership experience or potential? My search is coming up empty. I know that Boston University, Lehigh, and quite a few others have them, but would love to build a list for DS.
I know there’s schools that have them for Service - whether leadership or not I dunno. I’m sure leadership is entailed in those.
My daughter has one at Charleston and CU Boulder had offered one as well.
Here’s a Leadership based ‘program’.
I imagine as you dig into school programs, you’ll find many - but you might need to go school by school.
Then you have ‘study’ programs like the Pioneer Leadership at U Denver. Not sure if extra money comes with it.
The Johnson at Washington and Lee University, although leadership is just one component of what they are looking for.
Robertson at Duke and or UNC. Highly competitive and you can apply on your own or be nominated as a semi finalist directly by either admissions departments.

Notre Dame used to offer a $25k per year leadership award to a select few students. You had to be picked to apply by admissions at ND and then complete a separate application.
Good luck.
Many competitive/named scholarships highly value leadership and service, though strong academics are typically needed as well.
It also depends how much merit you are seeking. Does that make a difference? Do you need full tuition or anything helps?
An example of merit we felt valued leadership/service over GPA… the Stamps Scholarships at their partner schools. My daughter was top 10% of her class academically but not at the top; however, she was recognized for significant leadership and service. She was the only student in her class selected as a semifinalist for the Stamps scholarship at GaTech (did not make it to finalist). Semifinalist for Robertson at Duke/UNC (did not progress). She was awarded the Johnson at W&L and an alternate for the James B Duke at Davidson.
In summary, strong academics but not the tippy top. Her ECs seemed to make the difference with getting a more serious look at some schools but her profile was more successful at LACs. Note: I’m referring to her success with scholarships, not admissions as she was accepted at some schools where she did not get merit.
Check out The Stamps Foundation partner schools. The scholarships vary by school from a few thousand to a full ride so you’ll have to dive in to that.
Also The Bonner Foundation partners… these are smaller scholarships from memory but often come with other benefits.
The Shepherd Education Consortium offers resources for kids interested in service to underserved communities. I’m not sure about scholarships but they offer funded internships so may be worth checking out.
With a little more information we can hopefully provide more specific feedback.
Just wondering what “strong leadership” is. And in what?
You can google to find some but probably best to look at schools of interest. These, in many cases, are likely small vs scholarships based on academic statistics. But you might look at the criteria for The Presidebtial at SMU (a full ride).

Many scholarships (college based or private/independent) list leadership as a component of its winners’ attributes. Often other components (eg academic strengths) are expected as well. IMO the unique scholarships (eg for a specific population
Like left- handers) are less common than ones requiring “leadership”.
Please look up the Stamps Scholarship as @DramaMama2021 said. My D22 is currently a Stamps Scholar at the University of Pittsburgh. She’s living her dreams on a full scholarship. At Pitt, the application is only open to PA residents. Highly competitive, but well worth the application effort. The partner schools can mold the scholarship to their desires, but the scholarship is usually very significant. Good luck!
Posse focuses on leadership, I believe if your student is from one of the catchment cities. Student must be nominated by high school or community organization.
Which cities does Posse recruit from?
Through its traditional program, Posse recruits cohorts of students in Atlanta, the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, D.C., Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans and New York.
Posse recruits geographically diverse cohorts through its Virtual Program in Charlotte, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Memphis, Newark, Philadelphia, Phoenix and select cities in Indiana, Minnesota, and Virginia.
The Posse Arts Program currently recruits from New York, Puerto Rico, and the Virtual Program cities listed above, with the exception of cities in Indiana, Minnesota, and Virginia.
The Posse Veterans Program recruits post 9/11 U.S. veterans nationwide.
