Has anybody received scholarships from UF in the mail yet?

no, do they give?? Maybe they wait til accepted into Honors Program. Not a factor for us, as have bright futures, and prepaid. My son got into other schools that let you know with acceptance the award. So far the best deal is UF, even with nice merit awards elsewhere.

UF doesn’t throw around merit scholarships at incoming freshmen like FSU or UM

Yes. I received a scholarship… my friend also received one for $16,000.

What? I didn’t know ANYONE received scholarships unless they are African American or National Merit. Perhaps you and/or your friend fall under these categories, of course.

Pretty much the only students who will get scholarships from UF will be from a minority group (black, hispanic, and I know some exceptions that have been include in this group) and National Merit and National Achievement Scholars.

There is the Lombardi but you have to be nominated by your high school (one per school). I think there are like 15 semifinalists and then they pick 8. They should be finished interviewing the semifinalists before the end of the month.

Vincanity1, you are incorrect :]

I am confused, since Rosh said he/she got already scholarship, from UF?
Even, someone got $16000, also from UF?
Hard to believe, though.

If they did receive that, then it’s most likely over 4 years. UF would not give a scholarship that far over the cost of attendance.

[Edit] I did not know the cost of attendance is now $15,740 (on campus) and $17,300 (off).

However the only scholarship that I know off that would pay that much per year is the new one that they created 2 years ago. Criteria below

When they award full tuition money to OOS it could be up to almost $18000 (whatever the OOS tuition might be at this time). That used to be the case for OOS National Merit Finalists.

Additional info to what I stated above: “Out-of-state undergraduates should add $17,610 to projected tuition/fees.” So add that to what I stated above. However, I have heard the UF sometimes waives the OOS status to some and they pay instate cost.

Which is the same as giving you a $14,000+ scholarship (per year).

I’m the one Rosh was talking about…I did get a scholarship for $16,000, so Blaster please believe it. But it is to be dispersed over 4 years. However, I got a letter from the Admissions Office saying that they are going to offer me a better scholarship because I am a National Achievement Scholar. UF does give scholarships, but they aren’t as flashy as other Florida Schools. Look out for scholarship offers in your financial aid package.

That’s what I figured.

However, being realistic, dont expect anything on less you fit into one of the groups below.

[ul]
[]National Merit/Achievement Scholar
[]parents (no degree), make <$40,000 total
[]minority group with high academics
[]Lombardi Scholars
