<p>Because the financial aid office will adjust your gift aid award for additional scholarship money, is vying for scholarships a futile effort (as your grants will decrease anyway if you do get scholarship money)?</p>

<p>Grant money that is not used on you can be placed back into the pool of financial aid funds which will then be distributed to other students. So no it is not useless.</p>
<p>Unless you don’t qualify for financial aid anyway…</p>
