Scholarships w/o 3.0 or any GPA requirement?

Are very rare, and will inevitably have some ethnic/income/interest/whatever requirement that you don’t necessarily meet. For understandable reasons, people are reluctant to offer academic money to those who haven’t shown they’re good at academics.

There are scholarships based on criteria other than academics, such as community service, leadership, talents, etc.

There are also a very few based purely on test scores, such as:

Also if you qualify for NMSF there are quite a few scholarships for that.

Bob Wallace is correct that there are scholarships that are for reasons other than GPA. But check the renewal requirements. Most DO require a minimum GPA in college. Also, I have not read the websites for all of those scholarships, but what IS you GPA? The Chancellors scholarship link above doesnt have a GPA minimum, but depending on which one you are eligible for, it DOES have a class RANK requirement which is usually based on the GPA. SO read those links carefully. Even though GPA is not a primary consideration, it might be considered in a secondary way.

Since scholarships are typically to reward academic success, it makes sense to require high stats.

Also, since keeping the scholarship for all 4 years usually requires maintaining a strong GPA, it makes sense that the student be able to demonstrate that ability FIRST.

Class rank is not required according to the website. If you read closely you will see that there are multiple different ways to qualify fir each level, one of which is pure test scores without GPA or rank.

What am I missing on this Chancellor’s scholarship. It clearly states…“AND ranks it the top 5% AND has either the SAT/ACT scores noted”

There is no option for this award to be given unless the student meets all of the criteria. It doesn’t say OR…it says AND. The word AND is used in each of these awards to state the criteria for receiving these awards. Class rank of a certain %age (depending on the specific chancellor’s award) AND SAT/ACT score.

What you are missing is where it says right below that in plain English:

“OR
A graduate of any school with an SAT of 2100 or an ACT of 32 or greater with writing.”

There are merit scholarships at certain schools for that gpa, yes. My S was offered merit at every college he was accepted to and his GPA was 2.98. Which if you round up is a 3…but still.

Who are you asking this for? One of your other posts said you had a 3.85 UW. Or are you referring to 3.0 once you’re at college?

Disney…are you inquiring for someone else? Other posts have you as an entering freshman at UC Berkeley?

Are you looking for university scholarships that don’t require the college student to maintain a 3.0 GPA?
