I was wondering if ticking the ‘I would like to be considered for a scholarship’ box on the CommonApp, does this put you in a separate application pool or lower your chances? If not, why wouldn’t everyone click this?
I am speaking specifically about Occidental College
The reason you’d check the financial aid box is because you NEED financial aid.
Most colleges are ‘need blind’ at least for the regular decision round. That means the admissions office makes the decisions to admit or reject without knowing if you need financial aid. The financial aid office makes the decision of what aid they can grant to you.
But the bottom line is, if you need aid check the box. What good does it do you to get accepted if you can’t go without aid?
Just check the box if you want to be considered.
it’s for merit scholarship
@student1560
Do you want to be considered for these scholarships…or not? If yes…check YES. If NO check NO.
This will have NO admissions repercussions.
